GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Were prospect lists expanded to 15?
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I just went to PM realmin, and saw his last time on the proboards was June 13th. I look forward to my reply around Christmas.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Were prospect lists expanded to 15? Just to hold names while in the off season while there is no prospect limit. I imagine it'll go back down to 10 at the cut down date.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Looking to flip Aramis Ramirez for a good closer or picks package. Casey Janssen and/or Rafael Soriano are available. Also, I'll look/counter at your bball offer later this evening. Swamped the past two days.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Casey Janssen and/or Rafael Soriano are available. Also, I'll look/counter at your bball offer later this evening. Swamped the past two days. I don't think either of Casey/Rafael will close next season. (I'm also the guy who dropped Casey for that reason) Okay thanks, look forward to some feedback on that offer.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 It'll be your Christmas gift! Stanton will be quite the present!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Stanton will be quite the present! No, It'll just be a reply. By the time you actually get a deal worked out for Stanton he'll be in his late 30s.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 ??? Most closers are older than 25 and so shouldn't be targeted under any circumstance?
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Most closers are older than 25 and so shouldn't be targeted under any circumstance? Not the case at all.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Just to hold names while in the off season while there is no prospect limit. I imagine it'll go back down to 10 at the cut down date. *12 Unlimited prospect/picks between season end and cut day.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Not the case at all. Why is it funny then? I though Romo was a good buy for Boxy.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Marcus Stroman is tied for 9th in 2015 Steamer fWAR: http://www.fangraphs.com/projections.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&type=steamer&team=0&players=0&sort=18,d And yes, it's that time of year again where projections are teh gospel.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I quite agree with BTS. Competitive teams can't make space for non-elite relievers before the cut off, and will deal them for mid-round picks. Those same relievers will be worth high 2nd rounders once the season starts. It's easy profit if you have roster space to spare.

It's easy profit if you have roster space to spare. I got Robertson for a late 3rd last offseason. I could have made a 40-pick profit a few weeks later. I imagine that this is Boxy's strategy.

Did they not project injured players? Or did Darvish's arm completely fall off?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 It's completely idiotic to project Stroman and Carrasco ahead of the likes of Bumgarner, Greinke, and Hamels.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 I'm not so sure. Relievers are just so f***ing fragile... In theory you can pay a 3rd/4th rounder for a closer right now, and then if their talent holds, flip them for a 2nd after the season gets under way, but in reality you run the risk of having that guy turn into a 2014 Grant Balfour, and you might have cut a lottery ticket for that chance to win ten bucks.

I think you flip before the season starts, right after the waiver draft.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Carlos Carrasco is the truth.

Interesting......Good to see
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Carlos Carrasco is the truth. No, Kluber is The Truth. Carrasco and Salazar are just cheap flash-in-the-pan imitations. Man, Cleveland's rotation is filthy. Kluber Carrasco Salazar House Bauer McAllister Tomlin
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Cool, Steamer thinks Refsnyder is a league-average bat at 2B.

Kluber Carrasco Salazar House Bauer McAllister Tomlin Cleveland's FO and coaching staff don't get enough attention for their work over the past couple years. Many of those guys are totally outperforming their prospect pedigrees.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Jesus Montero is projected for a 115 wRC+, virtually identical slash-line as McCann. Yankees should never have traded him Edit: Also, Jamie Moyer checks in with a 2.8 WAR, 163/48 K/BB in his 200 innings. Better than a lot of real #2 starters lol
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I feel like I should be making somekind of trade. It's been over a week since the offseason has started.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 No it's not, look at the ERA. So? It's still idiotic to project their WAR higher than consistent ace workhorses like the afformentioned (and Wainright, etc).
