It's an interesting risk/reward thing I guess. Gibbers is betting that three good hitters come out of Cuba and Maeda gets posted. If that happens, he'll come out having made a great deal.

I nab who I deem the best available player in the draft no matter what anyways

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Isn't he mashing in the triple A version of the Pro Japanese league?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 What, Eddie Butler doesn't float your boat? Ouch.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Wow, when Gibbers asked me for my 3rd, I thought there was no way in hell anyone would pay anything close to that. Guess I was wrong.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 ProBoards trade block page views are probably a decent measure of have active somebody is in trade discussions. TCA has 1382 views on his block No49 has 1337 BTS 794 Nobody else is even close. A few teams don't even have triple digits.

I think it just means those 3 have OCD and click their own page every 5 minutes.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 That Rosenthal guy can handle the pressure...
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I'm sitting at #5 in the waiver draft and my research tells there's a decent chance that there will be somebody good for me so I really like Gibbers' chances. This waiver draft won't be as top heavy as Tanaka Abreu but it should go a little deeper.

Yeah, no worries. I applaud you getting nice value out of Rosenthal. In retrospect, I basically stole Romo.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Is Romo even a closer? He will be. Does it matter? He's still a really good reliever.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 He will be. Does it matter? He's still a really good reliever. Of course it matters; it's the only thing that matters.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 He's a late inning ROOGY. I wouldn't use him vs L in leverage spots myself. You too.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Romo is a free agent who will get a closing gig. I'd give him a good chunk of cash and would be happy if the Blue Jays went after him. All of Romo's peripherals are exactly the same as they were a few years ago. I like Boxy's acquisition of him very much.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I traded Romo about a year and a half ago in FC for Nick Franklin, then flipped Franklin for Gausman. That's how you profit, son.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Even if he's a setup guy, Boxy will be able to flip him for better than the 64th pick as soon as rosters expand. More rebuilding teams should be buying relievers on the cheap in the offseason IMO.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Agreed. On an unrelated note, ACTUAL closer Joaquin Benoit is available for a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick. First come first serve.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 If only I could be as handsome, charming and cunning as you. I don't think I'm all that charming. Cunning, yes.

That's why Gibber's made the move he did, it allows him to keep someone else and gain an additional good asset as well.

Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Actual closer KRod is also available for something similar to the Benoit swap.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Looking to flip Aramis Ramirez for a good closer or picks package.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 This has nothing to do with anything, but I just saw deadmau5 drive by in a ridiculously sick white McLaren.
