Didn't BTDumn take Lawrie top 50?

But damn, big trade. Like it for Speedy

Speedy > CatAss > Boxy for me but I like Russell a lot less than just about everyone else does.

I like the deal for Speedy too.

I'm gambling on the hope Rendon is for real. And that the Blue Jays continue their inability to develop young talent, And the fact that Japanese pitchers have a couple good years and then flame out.

Speedy nailed this. Boxy is the big loser here IMO. Russell will be lucky to become as good as Rendon is right now.

Even worse.... He took him 24th overall.

And eventually traded him to me for someone I drafted 295th overall.

Crazy thing is, I'm winning that trade handily!

I regret this deal already. So stupid, I didn't even have prospect space and don't want to cut anyone so I guess I'll just have the joy of carrying my man crush on the big league roster.

We'll share the regret together.

Actually, as egregious as my pick was, I kinda almost salvaged most of the value by trading him for Kuma. IMO he's not a significantly worse asset than 2nd rounder like Zimmerman, Cain, Pujols, Gonzalez, Hamilton, and Kinsler. Obviously I'd like to re-do the pick though.

That whole 2nd round was a mess.

I'm glad you're enjoying your 33 year old Asian, that averages less then 90mph.

Quite enjoying. He's going to be around 50th overall in value this year if he's healthy ROS. Lawrie will be lucky to crack the top 400.

I don't really understand trading a known above average commodity like Rendon (who is also young) for an unproven commodity, especially since Boxy already has Correa.

Darvish is the best player in the deal so I like SG's end of it. Good for him for recognizing a window to make some noise and then getting some reinforcements.

It's worth noting though that Gio has been excellent lately, so it's no guarantee that Darvish is even better ROS.

I'm playing the positional scarcity card. Speedy is helping me feel better about myself.

My main push with this was the Gallo and Sano deal, losing Russell doesn't hurt my farm too badly and both pieces I got are young and will be in their prime years for some time still. Also learned from other leagues it's sometimes best to deal a prospect at his height value because even the best ones don't turn out how you'd like.

Don't think I'm a true contender this year with your team of juggernauts, so it was important to obtain young pieces that will perform 2016 and beyond.

I could see you making some noise in the playoffs. Darvish, Cashner, Lincencum, Morton, Ubaldo are capable of taking down any staff in a given week and you have the bats to win some categories against the best teams in a good week.

I like what CatsAss was able to do here. Rendon is well worth the drop-off from Darvish to Gio. I've always liked Gio a lot; he gets overshadowed because he's not the best pitcher on his team and his production profile is unconventional for a top starter. Lawrie isn't the class of the other four players changing hands. I honestly see him as more of a piece made expendable from acquiring Rendon than as a player "swapped" for Rendon with the SP upgrade in mind.

Thanks. You never know once you get there. I like my core going forward and I expect to be a playoff contender consistently

I honestly don't think there is much of a difference between Lawrie and Rendon with the bat right now. Rendon is probably a .345 wOBA while Brett is around .335. To say he's not in the same class as Rendon is egregious IMO, they are the same age although it feels like Lawrie is much older.

I was really happy to get Lawrie, as my 2b/3b was Phillips and Valbuena. Huge upgrade

Eww. Lawrie looks like a 95-105 wRC+ guy while Rendon looks like a 120+ wRC+ guy IMO.

Lol @ ew. What I just said has Lawrie at 110 wRC+ and Rendon at 120 going forward. Not much of a difference from what you posted
