Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Atta boy North! 1st place here I come.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I'm going to hand the champs their first loss Was down 9-4 going into today too!
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I'm scratching my head after that Wieters deal.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Looks looks you're going to win 7-6 unless Jay drives in a run or Choate does good things tonight. I'm pretty happy with the result though. Also happy to be finished with your team for the season. With my luck I'll wake up tomorrow morning Choate will strike out the side while getting a hold. Jay gets a pinch hit 2-rbi hit. I then lose 6-9..
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I'm scratching my head after that Wieters deal. Lol For who?
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Lol For who? Gibbers. I know why he moved Wieters, I'm just surprised that's the best offer he got.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I don't get why you trade Matt Harvey for Matt Wieters, then a year later when Wieters is off to a blazing start and more valuable than he's ever been, move him for 11th overall and a top 70-90ish prospect.

It is a pretty deep draft, 11th overall should be a good prospect.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 A-Gon also got traded too. The 2 deals... Trade #1: King Kat Receives: Tyler Skaggs + Wilin Rosario + Jamie Garcia + MiLB #14 Cat's Ass Receives: Adrian Gonzalez + Hector Rondon + Tyler Glasnow + MiLB #6 Trade #2: GeorgiaPeach Receives: MiLB #11 + MiLB #58 + DJ Peterson Cat's Ass Receives: Matt Wieters + Kyle Smith
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 It is a pretty deep draft, 11th overall should be a good prospect. I guess there just wasn't that much of a market for him. He got some solid pieces but it just seems like a weaker return for how Wieters has started this season. It seems like this a return Wieters could have got in the offseason.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 A-Gon also got traded too... I knew you'd end up with A-Gon! Knew it. It's a fair trade if you're a Skaggs fan, which I am. I'm also pretty sure how you'll end up replacing Rosario at catcher.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Cats offers: Tyler Skaggs + 14th overall + C prospect I didn't know there would be more pieces involved but I did get a chunk of it!
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I'm also pretty sure how you'll end up replacing Rosario at catcher. Ladies and gentleman, Sherlock Holmes.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I didn't know there would be more pieces involved but I did get a chunk of it! Kudos to you, you guessed pretty good. I don't know who the other team was.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 If you look at the two deals as a combination, it's a very good job by CatsAss of adding impact talent without giving up core pieces.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 I think Skaggs and Rosario is a good return for AGon. Don't really understand the inclusion of Glasnow and pick #6, but I'll just assume that KK got haggled into it. I think Glasnow is wildly overrated anyway, and the value gap between #6 and #14 isn't really that large.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 lol am I ever dumn. The Wieters trade is a little confusing to me too. I was hoping Gibbers decided to go for it this year; a lot of his guys have been sustainably productive. I don't think the rotation can be competitive enough to go for it this year.

I think Glasnow is wildly overrated anyway, and the value gap between #6 and #14 isn't really that large. It was tough giving up Rosario. I only pulled the trigger because I was able to get Wieters. My team got a little older, but I was able to get the impact bat I was looking for.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I messaged Gibbers asking what he wanted for Wieters when he first put him on the block and he never got back to be. Weird that he accepted a pretty weak deal without even pursuing all avenues. I didn't get a message from him until 2 weeks or so after I first inquired. Kept negotiations short and to the point. It seems likes he knows what he wants and isn't willing to budge very much.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Damn, so close to my first win 3-9 is close?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I think Skaggs and Rosario is a good return for AGon. Don't really understand the inclusion of Glasnow and pick #6, but I'll just assume that KK got haggled into it. I think Glasnow is wildly overrated anyway, and the value gap between #6 and #14 isn't really that large. There were four prospects that CatAss wanted: Betts, Rodon, Urias and Glasnow. Glasnow was the easiest to part with of that group. Maybe that's what Cat's was banking on when he put him on the list with the other three. In any case, Rosario blew any other secondary piece I could have gotten right out of the water. He actually becomes the primary piece and reduces Skaggs to secondary. I was willing to be generous to get that package. Glasnow and Rodon were about to get squeezed by the upcoming draft and DL returns repectively so it made sense to use them to get what I hope are core pieces.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Can you tell us who the other team was? If there was a 2nd team in on him. I curious to see if Doc was right on the 2nd.
