The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I need a new team name. Kind of weird to have my team named after a player I don't own. My possible options at this point: 1. Worst Case Scenario 2. The Tactilenecks 3. Handsome Gentlemen's Club 4. The I Am Terrible At Coming Up With Team Names This is all assuming the overlords deem this acceptable. All those names are bad. I vote for "Bye Week"

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 OK OK, got my new team name: "Only Guy In The League Who Isn't A Total Douche" I guess I could abbreviate it. Actually, I like Bye Week. It can apply for my opponent this year and then for me when I am crushing all you idiots into dust.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 God dammit, the booze fuelled me but also let me down. http://i.imgur.com/c1V4jA9.jpg Omfg amazing
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Anybody feel like making any cuts? I have the spreadsheet open to process Boxy's acquisition of ace Yusmeiro Petit.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Are you going to have a promotion/demotion system with the other dynasty league? I'm not in either league, but I think it might be beneficial. It would allow your league to cull the non-participants, and remove the temptation to intentionally tank in order to claim the first overall draft pick. I've see too many dynasty leagues, where the owners either aim for 1st or last.

I think it would make sense though not to reward teams with a high guarantee for tanking, but that's just my opinion.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 We're a year in and every owner has been great. No issues at all with anybody. I wouldn't want to remove anyone from this group unless they wanted to leave. What about that True Cardinals guy? He can be a bit of a nob... oh s***... this is a bit awkward

I do realize that you are very likely no longer on the board changing s***, but next time someone is on I'll make my cuts. I will roster; 1- Brian McCann 2- Dan Straily 3- Dom Brown 4- Dylan Bundy 5- Fernando Rodney 6- James Loney 7- Jose Reyes 8- Josh Johnson 9- Josmil Pinto 10- Lorenzo Cain 11- Marcell Ozuna 12- Matt Garza 13- Mitch Moreland 14- Nate McLouth 15- Pablo Sandoval 16- Ryan Cook 17- Sean Doolittle 18- Sean Nolin 19- Ryan Raburn 20- Sergio Santos Cutting- Alexi Amarista Brandon Crawford Derek Dietrich JA Happ Jorge De La Rosa John Axford Matt Reynolds Max Stassi Todd Redmond I will also cut Max Kepler from my MiLB roster to meet the 12 man limit.

Wow I would have traded for a top 5 pick had I known a stud like Todd Redmond would be available in the waiver draft.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 No, It wouldn't make sense for the 1st place teams in the BBDL to abandon the top tier team they have created only to take over a very low tier team in the DDL. And it would make rebuilding a team 100% impossible.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Cuts processed. Question, at cut time do we have to take prospects that have reached their limits off our MiLB roster and stick them on the MLB roster?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Yes. If a prospect is over the PA/IP limit, they must be removed at the next cut date, otherwise they can be taken in the waiver draft, or picked up as a free agent.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Puig, for example, can be kept on your MiLB roster through this cutdown, but as soon as he reaches 500 PAs, he needs to be promoted prior to the next cut (ie the summer draft). If I were you I'd probably call up Puig immediately after the Waiver Draft.

That way it gives me an extra roster spot to work with all through spring training.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Technically you could stash him until the summer if you wanted to, but that strategy seems best if you want to compete this year.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Ya, I thought about that too. But I figure I'm gonna try to compete this year, and his help should go a long way.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 How could you cut Brett Cecil... Mrs Cecil won't be happy with you!
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I have the luxury (well, not really -- more of a burden) of having a terrible 20th keeper. I'm still trying to see if there's one more pitcher I can add via prospect. I really don't want to have to keep Ryan Dempster.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Just processed my own cuts: 2014 True Cardinals C - Wilson Ramos 1B - Mark Trumbo 2B - Jedd Gyorko 3B - SS - Elvis Andrus CF - Desmond Jennings OF - Ryan Braun OF - Kole Calhoun 1B - Billy Butler SP - Felix Hernandez SP - Hisashi Iwakuma SP - Alex Cobb SP - Danny Salazar SP - Jon Lester SP - Tyson Ross SP - Felix Doubront SP - Mark Buehrle RP - David Robertson RP - Sergio Romo RP - Danny Farquhar RP - Brandon Kintzler Shitbags getting cut David DeJesus Brett Cecil Joe Smith Nick Vincent It's nice to have an MLB ready 3B you can promote as soon as the season starts.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Yeah. It would be nice if I could use the free spot on someone better than Buehrle though. 8 SPs seems like plenty, I'd probably care more about getting some bench depth.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 If someone has some bats they are cutting, send me a message on the DDL forums first. I literally have no depth on my bench so I'll probably give away 116th MiLB for the best bat offered to me.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I will trade you an OF for Dempster. I have too many as it is.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I figure there should be sufficient bench depth in the waiver draft. Taking a flier on someone like Nick Markakis or David Murphy as a 4th OF is good enough for me. I'm taking that attitude towards my bullpen.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I will trade you an OF for Dempster. I have too many as it is. Check DDL forums.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I'm taking that attitude towards my bullpen. Same. Honestly here is my waiver draft: 1 spot -- promoting Castellanos 1 spot -- reserved for streaming/mid-season add 3 spots -- filling out my bullpen That's why I care very little about the waiver draft. Last year I picked up Melancon, and Avilan from free agents. Both had 25+ holds and a sub 2.00 ERA. Releivers are a dime a dozen.
torontofan Verified Member Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So what is the order of the drafts? Is it cut-down date, waiver, MiLB?
