I'm looking like:

C - Mike Zunino

1B - Eric Hosmer

2B - Ian Kinsler

SS - Alexei Ramirez

3B - Aramis Ramirez

OF - Mike Trout

OF - Hunter Pence

OF - Curtis Granderson

UTIL - Nick Castellanos

BN: Adam LaRoche

SP - Clayton Kershaw

SP - Matt Moore

SP - Jordan Zimmermann

SP - Jered Weaver

SP - Justin Masterson

SP - Ervin Santana

SP - Jeremy Hellickson

SP - Scott Feldman

SP - Ryan Dempster (maybe)

RP - Mark Melancon

RP - Pedro Strop

I'll likely target a vet to fill out my UTIL at some point over the season. Not sure what's happening with Dempster yet. He would be my last keeper if I knew he would be given a rotation spot. I'm going to punt saves so I'll probably be picking up 3 relievers in the waiver draft.

still a toss up. You may have me with 1-4. Unless of course Bradley goes all Cuban on me.

If Bradley pitches well enough to rival dinger's top 4, I will proceed to jump off a cliff.

How do your 5/6 stack up with Shields and Medlen?

My Roster is looking like is going to wind up being

C - Brian McCann

1B - James Loney

2B - Ryan Raburn

SS - Jose Reyes

3B - Pablo Sandoval

CF - Lorenzo Cain

OF - Domonic Brown

CF - Marcell Ozuna

CF - Nate MCLouth

C - Josmil Pinto

SP - Josh Johnson

SP - Matt Garza

SP - Dan Straily

SP - Dylan Bundy

SP - Sean Nolin

SP - Jorge De La Rosa (this saddens me)

RP - Ryan Cook

RP - Sean Doolittle

RP - Sergio Santos

RP - Fernando Rodney

My rotation is a mess so I'll need to hope for a good performance from Tanaka and bounce back years from Johnson and Garza. It could be decent if that happens. I've got lots of rotation backup in the high minors that I'll also need to hope for.

That and a good year by Taveras would help me a lot.

Yusmeiro Petit is now gone from the WAR Puigs.

I also have a problem regarding my MiLB roster. I have 1 over the limit which means I have to get rid of one. Nick Delmonico or Miles Head is gonna get the boot. I know there are some teams that are under the limit so if they're interested in acquiring one of those prospects they can get them for a draft pick or draft pick upgrade.

Now's your chance to get some Head!

Steamer has Masterson as my #2 by projected fWAR.

How did you get Trout, Clayton, and Moore on your team. You traded high level prospects or something? Cant imagine it'd be possible via draft

My projections agree.

What's your projections say about Juan Nicasio? I was gonna drop him but Streamer has him for 2.9WAR good for 29th overall among starters.

People need to stop caring so much about projected WAR for pitchers. Look at the rate stats. Steamer is just pulling IP out of its ass.

I like Zimmermann more than Masterson for 2014. Matt Moore might never be an elite arm in a K/BB league. :(

Or an elite OBPA guy. Zimmerman is both. ERA is only one category yet the way people obsess over FIP, xFIP and TIPS you'd think it was everything.

De La Rosa is a pretty dusty keeper. Steamer is guessing that he'll have an ERA over 4.5, K/BB under 2, and a WHIP over 1.4. Yucky!

A guy like Bud Norris projects for marked improvements in every relevant category.

7.63 K/9, 3.36 BB/9, 2.3 WAR in 189 IP.

He is 100% my bubble guy. I still feel like there is a deal to be made with someones roster overflow. I'll see what comes up.

JFaS, who should I keep of Brett Oberholtzer and Grant Green? I'm leaning Oberholtzer but if Green can hit he'll be a much more valuable player.

Whichever one I don't keep will be imminently available in trade for a pick upgrade.

That's in a vacuum though...

So with Coors and Wilin Rosario rolled on top, I'm guessing a 4.5+ ERA.

Rosario is a s*** framer, right?

I actually completely agree with you here. I stopped taking steamer serious anyway when they projected Clayton Kershaw for 3.7 WAR. TBH I normally don't even look at WAR for fantasy baseball.

Drafted Trout and Moore as my 1st and 3rd, and then traded Teheran + Bradley + 20th MiLB in the upcoming draft for Kershaw.

I ended up trading him Kershaw when I went on a trading spree. Ended up trading the 20th MiLB again too. Total running for Kershaw ended up Teheran + Archie Bradley + Jarred Parker + Jesse Hahn.

Yeah, I wasn't even saying that with respect to fantasy baseball. WAR is essentially irrelevant for fantasy, unless you play in some kind of nuanced, nerdy league based on linear weights (I do!).

But even with real life baseball, looking at projected WAR for pitchers just seems so silly some times.

Like, Steamer has Kershaw, Garza, and Juan Nicasio projected for 192, 192, and 189 innings pitched, respectively. They're not even really trying to project playing time, so looking at WAR is misleading. WAR is just tacked on to the end of the statline because it's what people want to see.

That doesn't mean the projections are bad or shouldn't be taken seriously. I just think they get misused.
