Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I actually got Parker + Jesse Hahn for my late 1st. Parker equaled out to a mid-second round pick. I don't think Hahn is anything, but I do think Parker is the best asset in the deal.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Everything I read on Barnes this year had an arrow pointing down.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I don't think Hahn is anything, but I do think Parker is the best asset in the deal. I'm actually a fan of Hahn. As long as he can stay healthy. He has a nice fastball. And he's a Ray.

BP ranked Hahn 6th on their Rays list, ahead of Taylor Guerrieri, and said "Hahn is legit, with a late-innings fastball that he can maintain into starts, a deep secondary arsenal that he can throw for strikes, and a good overall feel for pitching." There's definitely something there, worth a pick downgrade if you have the MiLB space.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I dont have space though..
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Night of deals continues To z3r0s: Waiver Pick #1 - clause; will not pick Abreu MiLB pick #89 To CatsAss: Waiver Pick #2 MiLB pick #55
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Night of deals continues To z3r0s: Waiver Pick #1 - clause; will not pick Abreu This is 100% not going to be enforced.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 BTW, Cats Ass was going to take Abreu at #1 anyway lol
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 This is 100% not going to be enforced. Yup
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 BTW, Cats Ass was going to take Abreu at #1 anyway lol Yup, pointless deal. If someone is trading you #1 for #2, and asking for you not to pick Abreu, then you KNOW you'd f***ing be getting Tanaka anyway. Oh well!

If someone is trading you #1 for #2, and asking for you not to pick Abreu, then you KNOW you'd f***ing be getting Tanaka anyway. Oh well! Pointless deal... UNLESS z3r0s just bamboozled Cats Ass and decides to break his gentleman's agreement and take Abreu. I fully encourage this.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Okay... apparently Cats Ass doesn't own #89. He owns 84 and 85.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 not supposed to be enforced, just making our convo public so if I did break it I would be subject to full flaming . We talked about him wanting Abreu prior to the deal. CatsAss is just so trade happy I wasn't confident he wouldn't deal the pick away to someone who wanted Tanaka (who I want more than Abreu anyway). Hence the deal. It didn't really cost me much anyway.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 CatsAss is just so trade happy I wasn't confident he wouldn't deal the pick away to someone who wanted Tanaka Fair point. I prefer Abreu, personally.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Okay... apparently Cats Ass doesn't own #89. He owns 84 and 85. hmmm. I'd assume he is ok with swapping the #89 and #85 but I'll ask him... we'll make it work. btw, did that change before or after our deal? I could have been reading from the wrong column I suppose
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 You must have been looking at Jaysblue's column. I'm going to process it as 85 and you guys can correct it if that's not the case.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Fair point. I prefer Abreu, personally. Certainly could be better (especially as an everyday player). Pitching is a big need for me however and I think the value gap is small enough that need can be a strong factor in my preference.

I've been saying all along that I think it will be a weak MiLB draft, so I guess I can't really knock you trading a late 3rd for a 5th in order to ensure you getting the player you want, with pitching being a need.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Must have been a damn good pitcher, knowing what I know.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 So with the league getting busy again soon: Realmin has been AWOL for two weeks from another league we're in without saying anything to anyone, and has not responded to an e-mail I sent him over 10 days ago. Has anyone heard from him? We should probably get confirmation that he's still in the DDL before the cut down date is here. I could have sworn he checked in a couple weeks back. According to his profile: General Information Last Activity Yesterday 02:08 PM He's got a pretty good team so I'm not too worried about him abandoning it.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I think my roster should look like this. C - Wilin Rosario 1B - Empty - Jose Abreu? 2B - Daniel Murphy 3B - Brett Lawrie SS - Everth Cabrera CF - Carlos Gómez OF - Justin Upton OF - Empty - Yasiel Puig? DH - Josh Hamilton BN – 4OF - Leonys Martín BN – 1B/3B - Chris Johnson SP1 - Yu Darvish SP2 - Cliff Leee SP3 - Julio Teheran SP4 - Clay Buchholz SP5 - Marco Estrada SP6 - Tyler Skaggs SP7 - Jarrod Parker SP8 - Jenrry Mejía SP9 - Juan Nicasio RP1 - Jonathan Papelbon RP2 - Ernesto Frieri Which means these guys are all players I'd move for dirt cheap! Jeff Locke Josh Beckett Colby Lewis Matt Magill Tommy Hanson Yusmeiro Petit Edward Mujica Álex Colomé Dustin McGowan Álex Rodríguez André Rienzo
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 My pitching staff last year ended up pretty bad. It was Kershaw + DL Guys + s***. I hope it's a little better. And of course there'll be holes. I always end up having 5-9 guys injured at any given time.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I never confirmed that 4 way deal..VETO!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Is there a better 1-3 in the league? I think your pitching will be fine. Dingers - Fernandez, Sale, Sanchez? I think it may be a toss up.
