As a Leafs fan I love this deal cause it's s*** for the Sens.

 

It really depends on whether or not Duchene re-signs.

I don't really understand this. Was Turris not willing to sign that same deal to stay in Ottawa? Hopefully the Senators can work out a long-term extension with Duchene.

 

The GM was on the 590 and said Turris kept pushing for a bigger 7,8 year deal. He was trying to keep it as professional as possible but it sounded like there was resentment there.

 

Turris' camp wouldn't even entertain a 6 yr deal

Not really. He's not that much better than Turris. At least not the amount that they had to give up to get him.

And if he does at what price. If he signs for say 6x7 that's fine but any more years/$ and that contract is worse than the one you could have had with Turris.

That’s fine, but indications are that Turris was demanding more than 6x6 from them. There’s a way for this to play out in such a way that Duchene becomes a long term core piece on a fair contract. Granted, anything but that scenario and this deal looks bad.

We're due for an offensive explosion. Don't get me wrong...I like that they're showing signs of tightening things up a bit in their own end, but we all know this team has high end skill up front. I want to see them explode all over the Bruins faces tonight.

I like it when the leafs are winning..... That way the Scheifle and the Jets can just slip under the Radar and not draw much attention in being the best Canadian Team.
