I'd do it if I was the Leafs. Crappy overpaid roster with no chance of competing. You have to tank it out. Their problem is they waited too long and might still pick 5th from the bottom. Not going to get a bad player (we got Galchenyuk close to there), but (hopefully for me) not top tier prospects

If Hanifin goes top-5, which he probably will, the Leafs will get a Marner/Strome at 5. I'd like to see them 6 or lower.

Still gonna be a loooong process. Long-term, you'll be working with Kessel (or whatever he brings back), Rielly, Gardiner, JVR, Bernier, Nylander and your 2015 1st and that's pretty much it in terms of valuable assets.

I dunno, not necessarily. It doesn't seem as difficult to turn around an NHL team these days. You just have to know what you're doing!

Look at some of the core players on Tampa.

Ondrej Palat - 7th round

Tyler Johnson - undrafted signee

Nikita Kucherov - 2nd round (58th overall)

Ben Bishop - Cory f***ing Conacher and a 4th

Still lots of free money to be had in the old school NHL...

This is okay. It appears as if the right personnel is in place to supplant them with more pieces, and of course we'll hopefully be smarter with our FA money.

Maybe. Selling pieces for futures at the deadline is the easiest part of the process. The new FO is far from proven.

Eh, I'm not really evaluating them on their current moves. Just more so what they're trying to do. Move Phaneuf, tank it up, target good possession guys like Booth, and I try and read as much of what Dubas says as I can, he seems like a very intelligent guy. If they trade Kadri, I'll lose a lot of faith (unless it's a good haul lol). Just seems very smart, obviously nothing is certain.

Hmmm...wonder if Kadri gets suspended for that? Most likely as a repeat offender, but it's tough to say.

Playing for this team is more than enough punishment for him.

Hahaha...Shanny apparently loves his makeup and playing style, they want him to clean his off ice s*** up. Parties too much, lackadaisical at practice, etc...

Huge game tonight, Jets vs Sharks.

Minnesota plays Nashville. I want the Jets to win so bad!

Kadri suspended for 4 games.

That's a lot for that play. The league clearly wants Toronto to get McDavid. Fix is in!

I'm assuming that the Sabres are already pressing McDavid jerseys by the thousands in some sweatshop in Bangalore.

How awful would it be if Edmonton wins the lottery?

Less awful than seeing McDavid rot in the phoenix market. The best thing for the NHL would be Mcdavid going to Buffalo.. or the leafs but that won't happen.

It would be beyond awful.

Buffalo is probably the best spot. One of the best small market American teams and they really need someone like that. If he goes to Toronto I'm gonna puke. Carolina would be another place I don't think I'd want to see him.

McDavid to Buffalo would probably attract new fans from across the border and from his already established fan base in Erie.

I'm hoping for Buffalo and then would choose Edmonton.

Can you imagine the Leafs get McDavid and Sabres get Eichel, though? I would have to imagine the league would try to profit from that, especially since they're division rivals.

That would be unreal.. and if both rebuilds work out, could be fun to watch for many years.

The money McDavid would bring in playing for Toronto would be ridiculous.

I'd have to imagine Eichel would bring a ton of money for Buffalo, too.
