Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Disclaimer: I'm not faulting you as these are fair prices to pay based on the market. But holy f*** I hate how expensive Leafs tickets are. f*** that so much. I'll just wait for free tickets from vendors I know lol. The time David Broll's uncle got me tickets to a Calder Cup game was great. I was lucky my dad use to get tickets so I've seen a lot when I was younger but haven't been to a game at the acc since my dad changed jobs. It does suck. My record seeing them is like 3-20 lol I've been to a few games in buffalo, they were great.. and atmosphere is so much better.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 My company does a lottery for most games.... Company has maybe 800 people and we have 10 tickets per game? A guy who sits a few desks down from me won tix for the Habs game (like s***** tickets... Way up in the corner behind the net... Maybe row 17). Gonna see how much he sold them for tomorrow. Probably 300$ each. It's disgusting I agree. But if you can't beat em, join em. Jesus. Yeah, I know a guy who got decent bowl tix from a company auction, nothing too special and sold 'em for like $400 each. I was lucky my dad use to get tickets so I've seen a lot when I was younger but haven't been to a game at the acc since my dad changed jobs. It does suck. My record seeing them is like 3-20 lol I haven't seen a /lot/ but I'm lucky in that my mom gets tix free 2-3 times a year if we're lucky along with some Raps and Jays tix. And whenever we see them, either we win a tight, entertaining game, or lose 6-0 to the Habs on Mats Sundin's retirement night (or in similar fashion).
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Tickets for mid week games against s***** teams aren't that bad. If you're relentless on Stubhub and Kijiji you can find decent seats for 80-100 bucks. That's still overpriced... But it's the weekend games where the prices always get way out of hand. All this s*** is run by the mob. Those big Russian f***ers in the Canada Goose jackets down in Maple Leaf Square before the games. It's a huge racket. Aside from getting stuff from my company I've been able to make a decent amount buying/selling (online of course, would never sell down by the ACC). You just have to buy tickets way before an event to make it worth your while.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 f*** off......you landed these free man? I'll send you 250 right now for either game. Hook a brother up?! Like I said. If I don't get a good offer for the Jets game, I'll see what I can do. No go with the Wings though. Like I said, selling for $380 tomorrow. (Won the Jets tix via work, Wings tickets I bought on Stubhub for a huge discount).

You can get tickets in the Fanzone's for like 6-7 bucks some nights on Stubhub.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Well, if that's the case I'm out. Try being a human and nice for the folks, that haven't a shot. I've got a mortgage to pay and a girlfriend who is expecting a big f***ing diamond at some point in the near future lol.

I have the worst luck, although I did see Sundin's 500th goal which to me makes up for the 18 losses I've seen. I have better luck with the jays, usually go to 5-6 games a year and they win most of the time.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 So sell me the seats for 250 firm...........I did 10 of us a favour for the Jays game never asked for a nickle more? And I already promised you multiple free beers for doing that
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Alright, be mean............just remember me first, f*** family girl's family etc, etc,...........Think SPANKY!!! Dude if not this year, next year most definitely. I've only been in this office for a few months. Let me get my feet wet and there should be more hookups. And again, you have those free beers to look forward to before the Jays game
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 You said Montreal became your team after the Jets left so you can't claim s*** from the 90s except early playoff exits! undisputed team after the Jets left, my uncle was from out East and started me on the Habs early. I'll claim that s*** all day long
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 ECJF just revived my thoughts in suing my ex-wife, all from tickets, that I used to get free. She should owe me large, in consideration of spending 10 years into my household, and never claiming a dime. Thanks mate. Go Leafs Go! f***ing divorce courts always favour the woman. They could basically be 100% at fault and still walk away with half your s***. Disgusting. I'm assuming there wasn't a pre-nup?
Frag Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 This has to be one of the worst things I've ever seen a "professional" journalist do. So, Curtis Rush of the Star wrote an article criticizing the people on Twitter who went after Reimer's wife. One of the people he quoted was Hope in the Big Smoke's twitter profile: https://twitter.com/mc79hockey/status/448167343739240448 It turns out, the tweet was not only taken out of context in terms of criticizing Reimer's play only, but also that it wasn't even Hope who wrote that statement. He was quoting Darren Dreger: https://twitter.com/mc79hockey/status/448168288686592000 Truly scummy journalism right there, and Rush still hasn't apologized for what he did. I won't post a link to the article since it doesn't deserve any clicks.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Thanks for posting but couldn't care less to be honest.
Nox Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Just thought I'd stop by to say how much I'm enjoying this Leafs collapse! Though I'm torn between having them miss the playoffs entirely or have Boston s*** on their faces in R1.
Nox Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Definitely miss the playoffs. Upon further review, you're probably right.
Nox Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Is it possible that Nonis' true master strategy is to put a team together so bad so as to be in prime position for the Connor McDavid sweepstakes in the 2015 draft? Super Potato? Stuffed Potato? Twice Baked Potato?
Frag Verified Member Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Thanks for posting but couldn't care less to be honest. You're welcome... *******
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Wasn't he a solid puck possession player? Although I might have been getting him mixed up with Spurgeon. Haha, hockey stats.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 His profile on BTN doesn't really paint him as a $5 million player, but I dunno. I hate hockey stats. They're so worthless. Hey, not true. Every single player I picked up on WTP waivers was a Corsi leader of some sort and they all managed to turn into good players, saving me from a last place finish.
Frag Verified Member Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Lol I'm still trying to work shooting into it somehow. I know Sh% correlates very well to average shooting distance (which has to do with his teammates set ups). But there are guys who are better shots than others. It's better to isolate each shot by type/distance/angle and give it a specific goal value. Now, if only NHL shot distance data was accurate...
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Dion Phaneuf worth -$1M/year lol. Worst Penalty Killer in the league (that actually kills penalties), and 3rd worst 5 on 5 (behind MacDonald and Smid). This is when I start to dislike advanced stats, especially for the fast paced team sports.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 So is Justin Faulk actually worth 6/29? Good D is hard to find. He's not good D for $4.8/season.
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Why? Because he's a defenceman that thinks hitting people means playing defence? Because he's not the third worst in the league lol. And he's a positive player
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Why isn't he? Because you don't think he is? I also should have been more clear and said he's amassed the most negative value. Combination of below replacement and playing time. I have a hard time believing that Phaneuf is bottom three in value. I definitely agree that he's not worth his contract, but this is ridiculous.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 This doesn't surprise me. You need to start a fangraphs-esque website for hockey. There are 48 hours in your days, right? It's not fangraphs, but B-R is expanding into hockey stats.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 That's certainly not fangraphs, lol.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Hockey Scouting: St Louis is a lot better than Toronto.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 The Blues are so good. They'll win the Cup this year. Ummm, no. Beans.
