Yeah lol. I like Glencross a lot. He's a guy I'd like to acquire. But again, probably not Kadri. The probably is in regards to his contractual demands. Obviously we have no idea how much he wants but if he wants a reasonable amount then I don't do Kadri

90% of the Leafs forum on HF boards loves Tyler Bozak, and they all want Kadri gone. You really can't make this s*** up even if you put your mind to it. I'm literally flabbergasted that people actually believe that Bozak is a quality top 6 C in the NHL.

 

The excuse was that Kadri "stole" Grabovski's top 6 spot last season due to Grabo's supposed "poor play". However, Grabo was buried on the 3rd/4th lines after only 10 or so games on the 2nd unit to start last season. I love how that moron of a GM made such an egregious decision to buy him out based on a relatively small sample size in Grabovski's career. The irony of this whole thing, is that these same sheep are using the exact same excuse that they used against Grabovski to target Kadri. Holland has now apparently "stole" Kadri's top 6 role on the team and now it's time for Kadri to be shown the door just like his former top 6 C mate. The remaining constant in this whole thing? That f***ing parasite Tyler Bozak.

I like Dutch as well, and I believe he can be a top 6 C in the NHL. I just wish this organization wasn't stuck with that anchor of a contract that they gave to Bozak. Two horrible signings on one day (Bozak, Clarkson) ugh.

Just looking over some Leafs stats:

 

2012-13

Bozak = 0.858 relQoC, 4.0 relCorsi, 36.7% OZS 43.3% OZF

Grabovski = 1.457 relQoC, 1.0 relCorsi, 44.8% OZS 44.5% OZF

 

2011-12

Bozak = 0.340 relQoC, -4.9 relCorsi, 52.5% OZS 54% OZF

Grabovski = 0.686 relQoC, 14.9 relCorsi, 53% OZS 52% OZF

 

2010-11

Bozak = 0.293 relQoC, -2.9 relCorsi, 52.4%OZS 49.5% OZF

So for three years Grabo faced the better quality of competition, did better than Bozak despite facing better competition, and for the first two years of the sample put up 20+ goals and 50+ points. Carlyle comes along, slashes Grabo's offensive zone starts by 15%, and uses him as his primary defensive C (led all Toronto Centers and 2nd to Kulemin among forwards in relative quality of competition). Grabo performs admirably, with a positive relative Corsi and finished in the O-zone 44.3% of the time while starting there 36.7% of the time. Nonis and Carlyle react to the fact that their shutdown C only played at a 15-goal, 28 point pace while ranking 6th ON THE TEAM AMONG FORWARDS IN PP TIME. They buy him out and use the money on Clarkson and Bozak.

 

I honestly can't believe how clear-cut the numbers are here. What a gong-show.

 

It's so weird for me seeing these advanced stats. I'm a hockey fan, but my knowledge of the sport doesn't come close to that of baseball. I feel like I would be the equivalent of one of those old timers who values Wins/RBI in the hockey world.

The Leafs are really expensive. Now 14 players signed next year for $57.2. Still Reimer, Franson, Holland, and Gardiner as RFAs and Bolland, Kulemin, Raymond, and McClement as UFAs. Dat poorly-constructed treadmill team.

 

Where are you getting 14 players for $57.2 M? Capgeek has it at 13 players at $50.1 M. Mind you, that's still not good.

I can't believe Bobby Ryan didn't make it. Wow. It's not even like he's having a bad year; he's been killing it.

 

I was also really surprised to see Jimmy Howard over Ben Bishop. Howard has been hurt and underperforming while Bishop has been a top 3 goaltender in the NHL this year. As my 3rd option, I would have rather gone with the guy who's been playing unreal for the last three months.
