Nox Verified Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 From our resident Hab/JPA Homer on the old board Mr. RIPEXPOS: Nox - "Price = Rask for all intents and purposes. Rask might even be better." RIP - "That's completely insane." Nox - "Rask is easily a top 10 tender. Price is there too. To make it sound like Price is on some other level is completely inaccurate." RIP - "Price has nearly three times as many NHL starts under his belt, and their the same age. Neither have proven much of anything, but Price at least has multiple seasons of being a #1 starter in the NHL under his belt. Rask has never been more than a platoon guy to this point. I don;t think anyone thinking rationally would tell you they'd take Rask over Price. The guys has yet to show he can be #1 over a full season." Nox - "Yah, it sure looks like he's struggling with being the full time guy this year doesn't it?" RIP - "There are lots of goalies with #1 tender talent, but the guys who emerge as legit #1 guys are the guys who can handle the mental and phsyical rigors of a full regular season." Nox - "Or maybe Rask hasn't even performed at his peak level because he's always had a competent goalie threatening to steal playing time and has never been afforded the opportunity to get into a "groove" (which people of your ilk tell me is important). Can I call Rask good yet? Huurrrrrr
hummus Verified Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 It's not hard to be a good goalie when you have a top 3 defense protecting you.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Goddamn I love that team. It hurts so much that Ottawa let the architect walk and take Chara with him. Keeping Redden instead of Chara cursed Ottawa.
hummus Verified Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Keeping Redden instead of Chara cursed Ottawa. Ottawa sucks, end of story. They will never win because they play in Ottawa, same place Heatley demanded a trade
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Bruins sweep the Pens. f***ing Leafs really?

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 So the team that was down 4-1 with 10 minutes left against the leafs in the first round, is now in the Stanley Cup finals.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 This series is everything I was hoping it to be so far.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep i can sleeeeeeep

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 This is pretty funny, especially if you don't like hockey all that much: http://onion.com/1997iFn
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 - Trade Sergei Bobrovsky for nothing to make room for Ilya Bryzgalov's 9-year contract. - Buy out the remaining 7 years on Bryzgalov's deal 2 seasons later, just weeks after Sergei Bobrovsky wins the Vezina. - Use the cap space to sign Mark Streit for 4 years @ 5.25 million. Holy f*** Paul Holmgren is a disaster. I'm totally expecting him to trade one of Brayden Schenn or Couturier this summer for something of lesser value. He seems really impatient and using that cap space on Streit is dumb.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Wait, hockey is still going on? It's the middle of f***ing June.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I can't believe this Streit contract. Streit at this point is a bottom-pair PP QB who is a complete liability at ES. And he's only going to get worse. What a nightmare. He gave him a limited NTC as well? Lol. Streit is just going to add to their woes defensively and he probably will get plenty of ES ice time given the contract they just gave him. Just some serious roster mismanagement going on here.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 Leafs going hard after Bernier. For whatever stupid reason. If we give up Gardiner I'm probably gonna snap.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Leafs going hard after Bernier. For whatever stupid reason. If we give up Gardiner I'm probably gonna snap. Leaf fans taking their time to bash James Reimer as well. A large portion of this fanbase is pretty f***ing stupid. They also buy the myth that James Reimer built up his SV% by stopping easy shots from the outside and perimeter (AKA Carlyle's great system!!!) They think we made the playoffs because of Randy Carlyle's oh so great DEFENSIVE system and not because James Reimer was stopping point blank shots from the dangerous areas of the ice. f***ing clowns.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 You know, if we give up Frattin and Scrivens, I could get behind this. If we're gonna rely on goaltending because we suck so f***ing much, Bernier is a huge upgrade on Scrivens as a backup and Reimer does have a slight propensity to be injured. Wouldn't be the worst thing, as long as we don't overpay.

Wouldn't be the worst thing, as long as we don't overpay. Thought this was interesting. It was posted by a member of the maple leafs community forum. TSN gametracker is an inferior tool to this one: http://somekindofnin...n&search=Search There's every shot against the Leafs at even strength this season. Yes, more are around the points, but the key as you said is hardly covered. Reimer's rebound control is simply a myth. Over his starts, he gave up all of these rebound shots: http://somekindofnin...s&search=Search Yes, 46 rebound shots, or less than two rebounds per game. 1.4 to be precise. Some other superstars: Rask - 34, .98/game Lundqvist - 46, 1.06 Bobrovsky - 1.26 Now if you calculate their rate of allowing rebounds per shot, give the different team's shots against, Reimer is a dead equal with the other three goaltenders. The potential Conn Smythe winner, the Vezina winner and a Vezina finalist all have comparable rebound control to Reimer. Fun fact - more rebound chances were counted against Rask than Reimer in the playoff series, despite Boston holding the edge in shots. You can stick your fingers in your ears as much as you want about Reims, he's proven in two non-concussed campaigns that he can play very well as a NHL starter.

Log into Facebook WWW.FACEBOOK.COM Log into Facebook to start sharing and connecting with your friends, family, and people you know. The LA Kings would like Jake Gardiner in a deal to send Jonathan Bernier over to the Toronto Maple Leafs. It is very unlikely that the Maple Leafs would move Jake Gardiner for Bernier This is actually a pretty decent source, TSN sponsors them I think. Something like that. LOL IF WE GIVE UP GARDINER I'M DONE
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 BREAKING NEWS Leafs acquire G Jonathan Bernier from the Kings for RW Matt Frattin, G Ben Scrivens, and a 2nd round pick. Faith in Nonis not diminished.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Pretty annoying from Bernier's perspective. He wanted to get traded into a situation where he'd get a chance to be a #1.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 John Shannon @JSportsnet 12m Make no mistake. Leafs management view Bernier as an upgrade. He comes to Toronto as a starter. Okay, um, aha... WHAT THE f***ING s***?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Lol 30 games the last 2 years under maybe the best defensive system in the league gets him the starting job over Reimer.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Did they just give the guy who was the main reason they even qualified for the playoffs the finger? f*** off.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 One perspective to look at this is that this is actually a solid price for a starting goalie. Another is HOLY f***ING s*** NONIS AND CARLYLE ARE STUPID and this stinks of Lieweke meddling.
