Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Tonight I was an A-Rod fan. Sorry I thought what Dempster did was ********, even bigger ******** by the ump not to throw him out. As I type this Chris Stewart just let a ball go by and hit the ump right in the throat...if that was on purpose complete justice. I'm annoyed that there's no video on the Gameday
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Did the Yankees seriously not beam a Red Sox hitter in return? Really?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Holy s*** are you stupid or what. TdA has a 21% BB rate over 140 PA's this season (over 4 levels). Can he get enough PA's in September to catch JPA in walks (currently 16 to 4).
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Did the Yankees seriously not beam a Red Sox hitter in return? Really? I kind of like that move, play it like a playoff game.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Did the Yankees seriously not beam a Red Sox hitter in return? Really? Game is still going... Also, who the hell would retaliate for A-Rod??

Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Here's the HBP... the whole series of pitches was well orchestrated by Dempster http://wapc.mlb.com/play?content_id=29843047

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 They owe a total of $13.9 million to Wells, Soriano, and Ichiro next year before the three walk after the season. GIANT FINANCIAL COMMITMENT. Guys, I just realized that we couldn't possibly sign Choo since we have Kevin Pillar and his massive financial commitment.

I didn't see it, only heard about it.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Nationals get DeJesus for PTBNL
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I always thought it was a bitch move for a pitcher to throw at a batter and not expect to get his ass kicked. Dempster looked like he was ready for a fight
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Another walk for d'Arnaud today. Travis loves his walks.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Now how about some base hits? Oh, and he got his 1st 2 K's in the MLB as well.. So far, d'Arnaud's numbers: 0-7, 5 walks, 2Ks.. he may be able to take walks now, but he needs to hit--after all, that's part of the reason they wanted him in the RA Dickey deal.

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Another walk for d'Arnaud today. JPA: 16 walks TDA: 5 walks I think d'Arnaud passes JP in mid-September
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Then d'Arnaud better start hitting--and he's getting the bulk of the starts, as Recker was optioned to AAA after today's game.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Don't be expecting a spark by Bogaerts like Manny Machado was to Baltimore--John Farrell says Xander won't play every day, and will back up Drew and Middlebrooks..why is he even here if he won't play every day? Pawtucket's trying to hold down a playoff spot.. they never should have traded Iglesias.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Gary Thorne's right about tonight's BAL/TB game--both teams are SO SLOW pitching. Mark Buehrle they aren't. Someone said yesterday that nobody's attending the Rays games because they're boring--no wonder!
8D Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Here: http://deadspin.com/brian-onora-is-a-tough-sonofabitch-1166555674 you think the yanks did that for arod? lol didn't plunk a batter thereafter.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Anyone else feeling really bearish on Manny Machado? Dude walks less than JPA. That's a recipe for a volatile career. I guess between him and Jones, the O's have the market cornered with respect to above average 3% walk rate guys.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Elmore pitched and caught tonight.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Who cares? Boxy does that every night.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Yup! I'm been calling Machado out for weeks as overrated. He's a fine player, but the doubles chase and young player hype machine elevated him to something he's not. Machado's power will increase, many of those doubles will turn into homers but............. + DingerPop = -AVG = -OBP = A slightly improved version of Ian Desmond?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Maybe Brett Lawrie with a slightly higher average. I'd be careful about assuming that all the doubles with just turn into home runs. I think: Brett Lawrie is better hitter than Machado and is also better athlete. Machado might be a defense God at SS + 25/30 dingers but................Lawire is a gold glove caliber 3B + 20 dingers + 8% walk [+20HR + 8% walk + (-20% K) = high wRC+]
