The free-spending ones are getting killed..they have one of the worst records in the NL, just like their AL counterparts.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Monday that Mark Teixeira is still experiencing pain in his right wrist. Which leaves open the possibility that Teixeira will require season-ending surgery. The first baseman was given a cortisone injection last week when he was placed on the disabled list but it's clearly not going to act as a long-term fix for his wrist discomfort. Teixeira has appeared in only 15 games this season for the Yankees. Source: ESPN New York Who would have thought that a whole bunch of aging, expensive players wasn't a sound long-term strategy... (Worked a lot longer than I expected though...)
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 DFA victim bro That's what I meant, the Jays will dominate him so badly that his career will end tonight.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I'm honestly surprised the Rays haven't tried to sell high on Hellickson a while ago. It would've just been the Rays-esque thing to do.

Of course if the Rays aren't being Rays-esque (like going over the international spending limit last year and getting stiff penalties this year), it only means good things for us.

This is true, but I also enjoy seeing a frugal front office.

And having loads of their miLB players busted for PED and drug infractions.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 This is true, but I also enjoy seeing a frugal front office. Jeff Blair (who likes to talk like be knows something but can't quite tell you) says Rogers has more $ to spend and says he reply expects AA to trade for a serious impact player at the deadline if we're still in contention. Who knows...

I.e. an average Tuesday for Jo Jo Reyes I'm honestly surprised the Rays haven't tried to sell high on Hellickson a while ago. It would've just been the Rays-esque thing to do. Frankly shocking they didn't, they could've gotten a sweet catcher in return or something. Of course if the Rays aren't being Rays-esque (like going over the international spending limit last year and getting stiff penalties this year), it only means good things for us. Them going over the spending limit was smart, they overpayed guys to make deals with trainers and other shady s***.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Personal preference. I like watching a good management team assemble a winner under a budget. That's just what I enjoy. I hear you Any idiot GM should be able to build a contender if given 200+ million dollars
