  1. Methinks I struck a nerve... I guess he showed me by putting me on his ignore list.
  2. I believe I said I hope he slots in and hits his stride. But I also said there's no guarantee, and it would be foolish to think one player slotting into the lineup will transform our offence. That's called being realistic. That's called having watched baseball for over 40 years. As for last year, none of our opponents gives a flying about what we did last year. Some of you can't handle any kind of constructive criticism.
  3. Not a variety of reasons. 1. We had owners who didn't give a flying about the ball club (Interbrew SA and Rogers when the old man was running the show). 2. We had the two worst GMs in club history (Gord Ash and JP Ricciardi).
  4. Nobody placed words in your mouth, even though you seem to have difficulty placing them yourself. Again, anyone dares to disagree with your happy-clapper take, and they are labelled obtuse. Here's a tip for you: don't try to use big words if you have a limited mind.
  5. It's called realism. I agree that Barger was huge for us last year, but like I said, he's not a proven player, yet. Hopefully, he slots in and hits his stride, but to think he is the saviour at this point is madness,
  6. This is more wishful thinking from the fanbase. Barger had a good 135 games last season - we have to remember, he has never been an everyday player in his fledgling career. Yes, there is potential, but he is not yet a proven player, so let's wait and see.
  7. Jays are 52-104 at the Graveyard since 2008. Reminds me of how bad we were at Milwaukee's County Stadium, where we were 52-78 all-time. Believe it or not, we are actually worse at Progressive Field (47-73). If there is expansion, Shapiro needs to petition MLB to move the Rays to the NL.
  8. In all those years, we were never seriously in the race for the division or the wild card going down the stretch. No close call, no lead fritterred away in the last 2 weeks of the season, no elimination on the last day. All of the winning heritage we built through 1993 went out the door the day Labatt and Pat Gillick left. The only thing we stood for from 1994-2014 was the national anthem.
  9. I wouldn't count 1994-2014, we were irrelevant in those years.
  10. Just like it's possible the Jays will win a series at the Graveyard.
  11. This has opener written all over it. I would be surprised if JS feeds Lauer to the top of their order in the 1st inning. The other concern is Berrios is doing his best Max Scherzer imitation in his rehab. Anyone know what's going on with Bieber?
  12. It doesn't seem to matter what they're doing, where they are in the standings, we just s*** the bed against them, especially at the Graveyard.
  13. Don't know why JS didn't pinch-hit for him in the first place. Taking him out after the fact doesn't really help us; that was a key moment of the game. Perhaps JS was being clever by taking him out to distract the media from grilling him about the decision not to pinch-hit in that situation.
  14. Why didn't JS pinch hit for him in that situation? Taking him out of the game after that lame at bat doesn't really help us - that was bases loaded man, I don't want TH batting in that situation.
  15. Losing a game when their ace has to leave in the first inning is so typical of this stop-start season. Now we head to the Graveyard for 3 against a Rays team that is cooking.
  16. The ghosts of Kawhi - something about that rim, like the old leprechauns at the Boston Garden...
  17. Good points. Not sure what the plan was in the off-season. There was a brief flirtation with Bregman, but all the bandwidth seemed to go to trying to sign Tucker, and there seemed to be no plan B. I never thought Bo was happening, he was never simpatico with the front office.
  18. Did you use AI to write that? A lot of big words in there - I'm going to have to dig out Mr. Thesaurus for this one.
  19. Not binary thinking. You don't even know what binary thinking means. These are facts. You just don't like it because you can't accept any criticism of the club.
  20. This club tends to underachieve when expectations are high going into the season (2013, 2014, 2016, 2021, 2022, 2023) and tends to overachieve when little is expected (2015, 2020, 2025). In all his years as a president slash GM, 2025 was the first time a Shapiro team got to a WS and the first time any of his teams won a best of seven series. It was only the second time any of his teams had won a division title. So I don't know what to think - is this a repeat of 2024 or a repeat of our slow start of last year? Yes, we've had injuries, but that's no excuse for going 2-8 against the Rockies, White Sox, and Twins,
