The Dodgers could afford to release him because they have the BEST development system in the majors and were confident at replacing him, unlike the Jays.
Also not a sure it's a fair comparison
They are different players with different swing "styles"
Dodgers hitting philosophy was based on (and still is) getting the ball in the up in the air - this philosophy started from the low minors and continued upto to the majors. It has worked wonders with many players - Chris Taylor, Muncy, Turner to name a few. Unfortunately for whatever reason Bellinger wasn't able to adjust once the league figured him out.
He has been much better this season.
I don't know Jays hitting philosophy, like everything they do it's secretive - as far as I can tell it's not the same as what the Dodgers preach but more of "use the entire field" "go the other way" "up the middle"...etc This might reduce Vlady's power numbers - it will and it has - but at least it will keep his OBP and BA fairly high or at least above average. Is he a beast like we all thought he would be - right now he is not. All is not lost though he's still a special talent.
and my question still stands....replace him with who?
