  1. Sure, might as well give them Kirk, Groshans, Martinez and Pearson. Then I'd love to see people here rationalize the trade.
  2. That's a very Homer way of looking at things tbh. SWR was the key piece to get a good young arm in Stroman and Martin still only dropped a couple of draft spots to 5th. We clearly were so excited to get him and if what you think is true, we shouldn't have drafted him 5th in the first place.
  3. Did the Dodgers pay the same or less to get Trea Turner and Scherzer? The Padres added a bunch of arms to their rotation without ever giving up 2 top prospects. With no extension, this trade is a joke.
  4. By affording him, I mean wanting to pay the big bucks that it will take to keep him. Trading for him just to give him a massive extension while giving up 2 top prospects seems dumb. If we don't get him under a reasonable deal past 2022, this trade will be a massive failure.
  5. I just wanted more control of Berrios so I could stomach this easier. Do you think we're even going to be able to afford him after next year? That's the part that pisses me off thinking we are going to be left with nothing or have an expensive pitcher on our books.
  6. I'm still trying to come with grips on the Barnes pick and then we get rid of 2 of our best prospects for a guy who could leave after next year. Looks like Shatkins got pinned into a corner with no other moves available after talking a big game and got bent over.
  7. You also have no f***ing idea what the rest thought either. Most of us are going by what the major media outlets are projecting and their perceived value. Everyone thinks we overpaid so just accept that. No need to get defensive about Shatkins getting hosed.
  8. Practically everyone on our 2015/2016 roster hated Shatkins because they wanted to breakup the team. There was a reason why they cleaned house completely. They didn't want any of the older regime players effecting the new regime players.
  9. But it seems the rest of the Major League seems to think they are. There's no problem in trading them but you better get more than 1.5 years of Berrios...
  10. The league clearly values Martin as everyone is saying we paid too high of a price. Look at what the Padres and Dodgers have been giving up in their trades. That's how you get things done. We wasted half a season with no bullpen and a whatever rotation. Just a panic trade by Shatkins when there was no reason to.
  11. Why the hell do we even need to get into a bidding war to 1.5 years of Berrios? There needs to be an extension involved or we just got raped. Imagine if there's a work stoppage...
  12. Look at our overall payroll, we're like 50 million less than our usual competing years. We gave up 2 amazing prospects for 1.5 years of Berrios and then what do you expect his contract to be? Just a joke of a trade.
  13. This is absolutely a JOKE of a trade. Instead of going hard after free agents, we decide to give up 2 amazing prospects. f*** Shatkins if the return is 1.5 years of Berrios. The Padres traded for so many friggin pitchers without giving up a return like what we just did.
  14. If we trade for Story, they better find a way to lock him up long term or this management team is looking foolish. We already got Semien to worry about unless we want to move Biggio back to 2B, Story 3B and take back a compensation pick for Semien.
  15. That would sound great if Hand was having a great season and wasn't a free agent in a couple of months. I'm just not a fan of trying to push for a wild card birth considering the position we're in currently.
  16. Whatever the Jays do, we better not be getting rentals. It's extremely shortsighted.
  17. Friggin Padres man. Their 6th starter would be a #2 on most teams. It's ridiculous.
  18. Controllable players for at least next season should be our only move unless we're getting a total steal of a rental. This would be an awesome move but will damage the farm system quite a bit.
  19. It doesn't make any sense man. Our starting rotation and bullpen were huge question marks going into the season for skill and health reasons. Why not stock up on 1 year deals when the cost was NOTHING but money for a team that was well under their usual budget. Im probably more upset at their train of thought than I am with actually losing Adams. It's just bad asset management.
  20. We could have had Hand last year when he was placed on waivers and then again in free agency. Instead we choose to get him when he isn't pitching well while we're practically out of the division race and give up Adams in the process for 2 months of his services? This looks very stupid man.
  21. The more I think about it, more the Hand move irks me. It goes against everything they've been doing and planning for. Going after a rental who hasnt been good while giving up a decent prospect who could be used for a real long term piece is unnecessary.
  22. Not a fan of giving up anything worthwhile for a rental. We could have just signed him outright before the season began with our payroll figures being so low.
  23. Next year will be our year to contend once the team actually gets the payroll up to a real level. The wait and see approach of our young guys will be over and we'll know who's actually part of the core.
  24. How crappy can Kirk be defensively if Reese is substituting for him here?
  25. Pretty sure he was telling Springer that he couldn't see the ball. You could tell by Grichuk's movements that he had no clue where the ball was as soon as it was hit.
