  1. Our front office would easily give that to Bo and Vlad right now if they wanted this right? Does anyone know what the actual contract would work out for his free agent years (assuming he got near the top end for all arb years).
  2. Still can't believe we wasted 4.5 million on a guy who failed his physical. Getting a good closer/bullpen arm last offseason was the difference between us making/missing the playoffs. He should be coming back to us as a favour of good will lol.
  3. Got me excited for 2 seconds even though I don't want to give him a 5 year deal at the AAV he's expecting lol
  4. Well if you really believe that Ray can be a CY Young candidate yearly going forward then our front office should be all over bringing Ray back on a 5/6 year deal. That would only take Ray to age 36 or so, which means nothing since we wanted Verlander at age 37 after not pitching for 2 years. Personally, I still can't believe it's a good investment to pay a 2 pitch pitcher elite money long term for only having 1 elite season. We will find out soon enough where our front office lands on whether they're Ray believers like you or pessimistic like me.
  5. Especially when Ray has had ONE elite season, which conveniently happened during his contract year lol.
  6. Verlander re-signing with Astros on reported 1-year, $25M deal https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2228219
  7. If we could get a Verlander/Scherzer/Kershaw on a 1 or 2 year deal, I'd easily prioritize bringing Semien back over Ray. I prefer Semien over Ray regardless because I'm so much more confident that Semien could duplicate his season again. And I should probably take Kershaw off that list since the Dodgers must know what's up with his elbow if they didn't even tender him.
  8. Same... Jeter was the most overrated player I've ever come across in baseball. Don't get me wrong, he was still a very good player but nowhere near the hype he gets. He was never even the best SS for any season of his career but gets treated like he was the best player in baseball. The Yankee effect was definitely strong in how he gets viewed. The whole "he should have been a unanimous hall of famer" pissed me off. There are so many better players than him who never accomplished that feat because they weren't as lucky to be playing on stacked squad every year.
  9. I think my point was being misunderstood. I said the pitchers should definitely have their warm up pitches but they should have them in the bullpen instead. This would help speed up the game in between innings and pitching changes immensely.
  10. This would pretty much put us out of the running for Ray right? Even if it's a 1 or 2 year deal for Verlander, I cannot see us committing so much to our starting pitching.
  11. Baseballs the only sport that players need constant warmups during the game. Not only that but they can call as many timeouts as they want in the batters box... enough of the BS stoppages and have the players man up. There's enough downtime in between their outings for players to figure out how to stay ready. Otherwise enjoy the 4.5 hour games that only the diehards can watch.
  12. Along with the idea of pitch clocks, no more than 1 warm up pitch for pitchers every time they take the mound. That goes for starting pitchers to start a new inning and pitchers who just got put in from the pen. There is 0 reason for them to need extra pitches to stall the game when they could get that work done in the pen. Then you start putting a shorter clock in between innings unless the catcher was the last out since he'd need more time to get the equipment on.
  13. Report: Seager, Semien, other big names likely to sign before lockout https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2223537 Good news for us wanting action rather than the usual crazy long delays between signings.
  14. Thought this thread would be a good spot to post all free agent signings from around the League. Looks like Heaney going to the Dodgers on a 1 year deal is the first transaction of Fall/Winter.
  15. Well that's s*****. Sucks that the dude had great numbers in AAA and never really got a shot at the big club.
  16. 5/130 for Semien seems good to me. Who would have thought that Semien could earn a bigger deal than Springer a year ago lol. Also, I just can't get behind giving Ray a huge long term deal. Something about a 2 pitch pitcher who has a history of control issues scares me. I would refuse to pay based on his 2021 year alone since a lot of guys lose that same focus once they get their big deal.
  17. I would wager a guess that the offer would have been on the lowside of what Matz is expecting to get. That seems to be the way our front office operates which is a good approach. No need to outbid yourself at this stage.
  18. I have a serious question here. Of course Jose Ramirez makes us a much better team for the next 2 years based on his contract. However, do we reach a point where we have too many players on our team that we just can't afford long term that it doesn't make sense to mortgage our young talent for? Assuming we keep Semien and Ray, do you still want to make this trade thinking that there is very little chance we can actually keep Jose after 2 years. The whole plan Shatkins have been pushing is having a balance of experienced vets with controllable cost effective young talent.
  19. This rogers crap better not impact the Jays offseason. This will be the most important offseason for us in our rebuilding window.
  20. This I disagree with. I'd love to get Matz back but not at 1/18.4. I thought a 3/30 seemed like a good deal for him.
  21. I think it's a no brainer that we will tender both Ray and Semien. Now whether they come back will depend on how crazy the market gets. Really want Semien back though since I think he has a better chance to repeat his season.
  22. This upcoming offseason will define the Stakins era. I'm really confident they'll come out looking great, which is not what I would have said 2 years ago lol.
  23. Holy s***... I thought Shaw got that one lol
  24. I think Vasquez missed the original celebration but then looked at Correa and was like wtf are you still doing at home plate lol.
