Ya I wanted Teo all along but we desperately need to improve our offense from the corner OF spot and he's the best player out there for that. We still need 1 more power bat in the top 4 of the lineup but I doubt this team will be able to add it.

So maybe the Spanish reports were true that we've given him a formal offer that hes close to accepting. Hopefully it's at the 4/82 mark but feel like the Jays are gonna have to give the extra year to get anyone to sign here this offseason. Let's see.

For a bunch of folks who live and die by analytics, I'm surprised how they're not seeing the probability of getting more value if he was traded ASAP vs trading him at the deadline lol. In the end, you never know what tomorrow holds but don't you want your team to pick the probability with the best odds of benefiting the Jays?

Honestly, I put him part of the steroids era. This dude was a complete scrub who turned into a monster out of nowhere. Although I think people thought the same of Jose Bautista so impossible to know lol.

I mentioned to do that a few times as the Pelicans did it with Zion in the NBA but Vladdy has all the leverage here. I'm sure teams would offer him the money without this clause. Just sucks but the Jays gotta find their breaking point like yesterday so they can proceed to make the required moves to improve this team going forward.

It was crazy how all we heard was a first baseman has never cracked the 300M contract mark but here we are. I still think the Soto contract is absurdly stupid so that should definitely never be used as a benchmark for your decisions. I'm also not a fan of people with Vlad's body type and if you take away his incentives to stay in shape, how will he look in his 30s...

It could have been but the rumour is supposedly saying we are moving past those initial rumours and are close to actually signing him. Could obviously be BS and as a scorned Jays fan I lean on that side lol.

This is like saying Soto's value isn't the same because you can also get Teo for a cheaper cost. No one is putting those guys on the level of Vlad entering his age 26 season. The Padres showed last year how you're supposed to conduct business with a player entering his contract year. You should know very early into free agency where your team stands with the player. The fact that Shatkins are still waiting to do this into January when they've had god knows how much time to figure their s*** out is borderline incompetent. They've let potential suitors for Vlad already patch up the position meaning less competition for a bidder war. Let's see how things go before making further comments.

Not even sure why you would need to explain this to a grown person. Of course you'd get more in return for a full year of Vlad coming off the season he just did vs 2 months of Vlad where there is performance/injury risks lol.

This is where I'm at. I'm sure the Jays have a number they'll cutoff negotiations after. Fans just want to see them employ some sort of plan, whether that's with or without Vlad. Obviously I'd love if he could stay but letting him walk in free agency CANNOT be an option.

Alonso comes with a comp pick... most teams arent wasting that unless they get Alonso on a longer deal than 1 season. Mets/Red Sox/Yankees are gearing up to sign Vladdy next off-season so will be interesting to see how Alonso's market shapes out. We definitely need his sort of power in our lineup but have 0 faith in our front office to make it happen.

There's definitely still a few paths for us to be good next year. Let's hope for all our entertainment values that we take one. Profar/Flaherty and one of Alonso/Bregman would do it for me. We must get 1 of the guys attached with a comp pick.
