  1. I'm excited! Never played DYNASTY before, or even OOTP, so give me at least a day to go over everything. Happy to be playing with all you guys and looking forward to a competitive season.
  2. BPPA... Best Position Player Available
  3. Man, I'm bummed about Alford stinking it up.
  4. Even if they were the next Gore or Pearson, I still wouldn't do it. First, like you said, the injury risk. Second, the change in usage patterns (last year only 15 pitchers threw 200 innings or more) has drastically reduced the value of a SP. With your top draft picks, you're hoping to get a 'franchise cornerstone,' someone who's going to be the star of your team, and starting pitchers just don't fill that role anymore. The jobs of Starter and Reliever are blending together at this point. The fact that only 3 HS pitchers were selected in the first round last year—the fewest since 2008—is a real trend going forward.
  5. There are never as many Outfielders as Infielders in any draft, in any year, and the Jays aren't the only organization thin in OF prospects. Best Player Available... it's not even a question for me.
  6. Tim Tebow is a possessed narcissist.
  7. Tim Tebow, whose parents were missionaries in the Philippines when he was born, will play for the Philippines in next month's World Baseball Classic.
  8. This is interesting: Kids in Britain playing organized soccer will no longer be allowed to practice headers, according to new safety guidelines for kids aged 11 and under. http://www.thefa.com/news/2020/feb/24/updated-heading-guidance-announcement-240220 And even after they leave primary school, headers "will remain a low priority when compared to other technical aspects of the game." This is obviously a direct response to the 2019 study that found former pro soccer players were 3.5 times more likely to die of dementia (compared with a control sample), and five times more likely to die of Parkinson's.
  9. If even a third of these predictions turned out to be right I'd stop following the game entirely. You are dark, Hurl... f***ing dark.
  10. Depends on how much you trust the Rapsodo data. Personally, I like what @pitchingninja has done and expect a bunch of his guys to break out.
  11. Lorenzen could moonlight as a physiotherapist if he wanted. Dude knows his stuff!

The whole thing was a vanity fair, but Jordan’s speech was surprisingly touching.
  13. Let's not put money on it, but let's get some bold predictions in before Opening Day. Here are some of mine: Houston does not reach postseason Minnesota beats Yankees in postseason, wins ALCS, and reaches World Series Washington does not reach postseason Diamondbacks win 100 games A-Rod part of new Mets ownership, sparks new chapter in feud with Jeter All of baseball carries out mutiny against Manfred I'll add more later.
  14. I like that they're talking about us, how that's really f***ing low on Bichette and Vlad. At least Cavan is getting some shine.
  15. I like what they're doing, and they're going to be competitive over the next few years, but a dynasty is hard to pull off in today's game. These extension moves also allow them to get in front of any potential big changes in the next CBA.
  16. Panik sucks. I hope he doesn't make the team. Even a bench spot is better used on a young player with actual upside.
  17. Not extremely slender at all, Grant. My waist is between 33 and 34 and my chest is 42 (unless it's a grandfather fit, in which case I'm a 40). That's athletic, not skinny. But I see your larger point, that it's not terribly obese. Still, not every pitcher built like C.C. Sabathia goes on to have a career like CC's, so I hope Manoah starts taking care of himself enough to avoid gratuitous fat-man injuries. I'd say at 6'6 you could even go down to 215, but whatever works for you :-)
  18. I’ll be there with a coconut smasher!
  19. Yes it is. I’m 6’4 and 190 pounds. 6’6 and 250 pounds is fat.
  20. Turns out Bumgarner has been secretly competing in rodeo competitions under the alias "Mason Saunders" and even won $26,560 in a team-roping competition last December. https://theathletic.com/1629527/2020/02/23/meet-mason-saunders-the-secret-rodeo-identity-of-madison-bumgarner/
  21. I would even put Hiraldo above Kirk. Even though I love everything about Kirk and am rooting for him, and personally he's one of my favourites in our system—reminds me of Jeremy Brown from the book and movie Moneyball—I don't trust that body will hod up well over the course of a season, let alone multiple seasons.
  22. Depends if they’re hot
  23. I mean they’ll probably acknowledge they'd do it too, either in their heads or even to Derek's face, but if asked by the press they'll spew out some cant about 'playing the right way.'
