Random trivia: 100 years ago today, the Negro National League was founded. The NNL was the first Negro league to last more than one season. And, in fact, from 1924 through 1927, the NNL winner met the champion of the rival Eastern Colored League in the Colored World Series (!), with the NNL winning three out of four.
With the Great Depression the NNL had to shut down, but the league came back in 1937 as the Negro American League. Then 10 years later an NAL player named Jackie Robinson broke MLB's colour barrier.
