  1. Sanchez has been dealing with a pectoral strain for about 3 weeks now he had when he was with the Blue Jays. The Astros has probably got the best pitching coach in the MLB right now in Brent Strom he like Sanchez's secondary stuff because it has a high spin rate he feels that they had Sanchez relying too much on his fastballs as his primary pitches. He wants to transform him into using his secondary stuff with the occasional fastball mixed in he claims Sanchez could be a game changer for the Astros in their rotation. Sanchez isn't going nowhere he'll be in the rotation till season end Strom wants to see this kid succeed under his tutelage.
  2. You're f***in nuts Sanchez arbitration eligible he isn't going to cost all that much and with pitching right now at premium the Astros will invest in his potential.
  3. Obviously you're more optimistic than a lot of people back in Boston. It seems to raise a lot of concern among the baseball people and especially so in Boston. https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/video/chris-sale-delaying-inevitable-not-getting-surgery
  4. Here's the best one with simplest explanation how the rule 5 works. https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/12/13/rule-5-draft-explained-major-league-baseball
  5. The treatment could be good news for the ballclub, who feared that Sale might need Tommy John surgery. That would likely have cost him all of the 2020 season. You notice they use the word could be good news rather than good news right now he doesn't need it but if his elbow doesn't hold out next season who knows what the options are going to be
  6. The rule clearly state in order to remove a rule 5 player from a team 25 man roster he has to put on outright waivers. Rule 5 Draft picks are assigned directly to the drafting club's 25-man roster and must be placed on outright waivers in order to be removed from the 25-man roster in the subsequent season. Should the player clear waivers, he must be offered back to his previous team for $50,000.
  7. Chris Sale done for the season. The Boston Red Sox received a major blow to their playoff hopes Monday with the news that ace left-hander Chris Sale will likely miss the rest of the season due to inflammation in his pitching elbow. Sale underwent a plasma injection and will be re-evaluated in six weeks by Dr. James Andrews. According to Andrews he doesn't need TJ surgery as of yet but who knows what the future will hold for Sale.
  8. The both line is that if he goes unclaimed the Blue Jays decide his future nobody else so basically he's become the Blue Jays property till they make a decision on him and that the context of meaning that he automatically return the Blue Jays they decide his future nothing can happen without the Blue Jays involvement once he clears waivers.
  9. Rule 5 selection draft was a system created to avoid teams from stocking piling young talent in the minors. Any players signed at 18 with 5 years of service or any players signed at 19 with 4 years of service must be protected on the 40 man roster. Any players left unprotected are exposed to the rule 5 draft selection any team with an open spot on their 40 man roster can claim these unprotected players. Teams who select players from another teams under the rule 5 draft must pay a $100,000.00 compensation fee to the player original team. Now that player must be immediately added to the 40 man roster and must be on the 25 man active roster at season start and remain on the active for the entire season. If the selecting team wants to remove the rule 5 player from the active roster he's put on outright waivers any team can claim that player the only thing the same rule 5 rules applies he must be return to the active roster to his new team. If no one claims him he's return to his original team and they give back half of compensation money. His original team has the option to take him back and send him to the minor without protection or trade him to another team who in turn could trade him again and be directly sent to the minors.
  10. They Jays got $100,000.00 for his selection if he's return the Giants are entitled to get half their money back $50,000.00 then Jays keeps the other $50,000.00.
  11. No he comeback automatically if he clears waivers. The Blue Jays received $100,000.00 for his selection from Giants if he's return the Giants get half of their money back $50,000.00. Then Bergen goes back status quo left unprotected off the 40 man roster.
  12. If he clears waivers without any other teams claiming him he automatically come back to the Blue Jays along with $50,000.00.
  13. Blue Jays future all star 1st baseman
  14. I said that all along he'd be an all star 1st baseman rather than a mediocre 3rd baseman. They should re-sign Smoak on a one year deal to help Vlad transition to first base. Then they've got Drury for 3rd base that open a spot for McKInney in OF, trade Tellez in off season for some arm. Plus I like the DH spot open approach on rotation.
  15. Because you need some veteran presence on a team every winning team has some veteran presence on their team in baseball, football, hockey etc. Smoak is inexpensive he still productive a switch hitter and he's still the leader in BB and OBP on this team nobody get on base more often than Smoak on the team. Bichette will be a leader in OBP in what we've seen in a small sample. The upgrade at 1st base with a younger player could very well be Vlad Guerrero Jr time will tell maybe as soon as of next season. Tellez reminds me of Pedro Alvarez big power lot of strikeouts with limited defensive capabilities. We could see a future infield of Drury at 3rd Bichette at SS Biggio at 2nd and Guerrero at 1st base. Tellez might be a piece that the Blue Jays are willing to part with down the road for some missing pieces.
  16. I don't get why people are confused or surprised about this move this was the best scenario for both parties. They tried to move Galvis at trade deadline but there was no suitor every team in contention already had their everyday SS nobody was willing to take on his contract and give up some their assets just to have someone to sit on the bench. The Blue Jays did the right thing by keeping Galvis especially if they couldn't get nothing for him nobody knew exactly how Bichette would adapt to big league but it came very clear quickly that this kid was the real deal and the need for Galvis for depth reason was unwarranted. Galvis is only 29 he still has a few good years left of baseball in him and there was no need for the Blue Jays to punish him for being the good mentor and teammate to these kids. The Front Office and Galvis were very open about the situation and both parties understood the role that he played here and management decided that giving Galvis a chance to play somewhere else by putting him on waivers was best. The Reds put in a claim and they got Galvis along with his contract. Smoak is a different story he's the only veteran present on the team and his playing time is reduce he is 32 years old now you got Dury playing 1st base and also Billy McKinney. Now when Gurriel comeback there's 3 guys that has to be rotated in the DH and some position playing time. Now having the DH position open gives Montoyo the flexibility to give every player some playing time which he said he like to do with all his players. I don't see Tellez here before September call ups simply because there's no room. Management latest call ups tell a lot on what they're trying to decide about this team. Smoak already expressed to management that he would be willing to resign with Blue Jays as veteran for the kids. The other thing that could come into consideration here is what condition will Vladdy show up at camp if he shows up heavy like he did this spring look for a transition to 1st base. Guerrero isn't your stellar 3rd baseman he among the leaders with errors committed he'll finish out the year at 3rd base but his physical condition might dictate on where he'll end up playing in the near future. They might keep Smoak around for one more season in case he needs to teach Vladdy on how to properly play 1st base.
  17. The Astros are leaning toward deploying Peacock (shoulder) in relief once he's reinstated from the 10-day injured list, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. "The goal is for him to come back as soon as possible, which would make the reliever option a little bit more feasible," manager AJ Hinch said of Peacock. "We don't really have a spot in our rotation open. We think he can be a valuable reliever." Hinch's comments came after the newly acquired Aaron Sanchez turned in six no-hit innings in his team debut Saturday, which may have been enough to convince the skipper to keep the right-hander in the rotation moving forward. Heading into that outing, Sanchez was believed to be merely keeping the seat warm for Peacock, but the latter didn't help his cause by getting roughed up in his rehab outing at Triple-A Round Rock the same day.
  18. Non tendering is for players with more than 6 years of service time. Young players are under the team collective bargaining agreement less than 3 years service is pre -arbitration after 3 year the player is arbitration eligible after the 6 year free agency.
  19. Stop you're making yourself look like a complete fool. Players have collective bargaining agreement with MLB and MLBPA. Arbitration is part of that collective agreement if player and a team cannot come to agree on a salary for that year they use arbitration to resolve the dispute. The date a player can reach free agency is pre-determine by collective agreement not before. It's a sign legal bidding contract you dummy teams or players cannot chose randomly take it or leave it don't talk so foolish.
  20. He had a set back in the middle of July after a bullpen session then he's schedule to throw 2 innings in a rehab assignment this weekend to see how it goes. But there's no guarantees that Peacock goes back in the rotation according to Luhnow he might be in the bullpen. Peacock has been on the injured list since June 28 with right shoulder soreness. He threw in a rehab assignment at Class AA Corpus Christi over the All-Star break but suffered a setback after a bullpen session on July 14. General manager Jeff Luhnow said the club will assess the pitching staff after the trade deadline before deciding whether to build Peacock back up as a starter or put him in the bullpen. The Astros are going to give Sanchez the opportunity to prove himself as a starter unlike most idiots think on here. If he pitches like he did in his last 2 outing he'll be penciled in the rotation. This will probably prove to be another major blunder by the Toronto Blue Jays.
  21. That's not how it works arbitration ruling are biding what ever they decide they have to pay that salary. The ruling could go either way of the player or the team.
  22. WTF are you talking about non tendered Sanchez was under team control till 2021 so next season if they couldn't agree on a salary it goes directly to arbitration and they decide his salary for the year.
  23. That's the thing the timeline for Peacock return is undetermined right now after his recent setback and with the season winding down approximately 50 or so games left to play the window of opportunity is closing fast for his return this season. The Astros picked Sanchez for exactly that purpose depth in their rotation except all the dummies here didn't even consider that scenario playing out.
  24. That's biggest crock of s*** I ever heard pitching has always been a hard commodity to find especially good one Sanchez has proven he can be on the top with the big guys he did it before. Unfortunately injuries plague him for the last couple of season. He just started to show now some of the stuff he has that can make him a top performer again. Teams will gamble on pitching and the Astros fleeced the Blue Jays on this deal. Unlike what everyone thinks the Astros is looking at Sanchez for depth in their rotation especially with the uncertainty status of Brad Peacock his shoulder problem. Derek Fisher was a former top-100 prospect who has seen his stock fall in recent years. He debuted in 2017, but has gone back and forth between the majors and minors due to ineffectiveness. In 312 career plate appearances he has hit only .201/.282/.367 and has struck out a whopping 35 percent of the time. With the kind of talent the Astros have had in the outfield, that kind of performance was not going to meet the bar for playing time. Now does that sound like a good return for Sanchez, Biagini and Stevenson. Even if Sanchez bombed out you couldn't get much worst in return scrapping the bottom of barrels.
  25. There was absolutely no risk in keeping Sanchez till the end of the season he was trending upwards towards his old form. You can't dispute if he finished season strong that his value would be better than that a potential 4th outfielder caliber player. I don't know how anybody can be clamoring about a part time potential player in return for 2 pitchers that had some success at MLB level. The scouting report on Derek Fisher isn't all that great he has speed and hit the ball hard who strikeout a lot with a lack of instinct and defensive capabilities a too weak of an arm to be considered a centerfielder. Heck they already got a player in Tellez that can hit the ball hard and strikeout way too much and that why he's back in AAA. This franchise will turn out to be a Tampa Bay part deux cheap controllable players enjoy Guerrero Jr, Bichette and Biggio while they're in control because a soon they start to want money they'll be gone for prospects.
