  1. This whole article was ridiculous to me. Was anyone really naive enough to believe that the teams were not getting come kind of compensation from StubHub when the announcements were initially made? Did they really think the clubs were doing it out of the kindness of their hearts? The big benefit to that deal for consumers is you can buy a second hand ticket and be confident you are getting a valid ticket. That's a big win even if you are paying above face value. Honestly, the tickets sell for two times face value. The team could just charge that for those tickets right off the bat as there is the demand there.
  2. Could you fire me another invite if it is not full please? I am not seeing the first one anymore
  3. It was either Shulman and Buck or Jim Hughson and Buck.
  4. Tabby replaced Buck as colour commentator back in 2001 and has been there ever since. Buck's original run was from 1987–2000 though.
  5. I'll join again and try to be a little better about putting in my lineups this season.
  6. I have read many think he has Ace upside as a pitcher. Expectations vary as a hitter but I have seen some puttimg his ceiling as a 30/30 right fielder. Apparently he wants to play in the field so a team willimg to let him try might have a leg up. Olney has said recently that the Jays do not plan to pursue him heavily. That being said, they had 8 or 10 front office personelle over there scouting him and apparently Dan Evans has been working on him for years and badly wants him. There have been many reports on how players love playing for the Jays passionate fanbase and representing the whole country. Maybe that (and taking over some joey bays endorsement deals) could be enough to sway him. He clearly is not all about the money.
  7. Ichiro is a first ballot no doubt hall of famer to me.
  8. There have been some studies done that show that amphetamines (AKA greenies) are far more performance enhancing than steroids. The downturn in offense in the testing era corresponded with amphetamines being outlawed not with steroids being tested for. Hank Aaron has admitted to using Greenies as well as many other players from that era. Who knows if Maris was using them or not in '61? As for today...in 2014 112 players were diagnosed with ADHD and given an exemption for adderall(amphetamine). That works out to about ten percent of players. The adult rate for ADHD is 4 to 6 percent so it is possible that exemptions are given out to those who shouldn't have them. Who knows if Stanton is one of them? I guess this is my long way of saying we have no idea what records are PED free and which are not. I would prefer just to enjoy baseball without thinking about it. Bonds was fun to watch. Stanton is fun to watch now.
  9. Greenies were pretty common back in '61 were they not? Amphetamines are the real performance enhancer in hitting. Who knows? Maybe Stanton is one of the many players with an exemption.
  10. To be fair, he was probably placed on waivers early on before the string of good starts. I have seen some spots speculate he would make it through then. Some team with budget wiggle room might have taken a stab at him though.
  11. He is striking out at a 28 percent clip so I can see some reason for concern at the major league level.
  12. I believe the signing period ends on june 15 of 2018 giving a small break before the next period.
  13. I would think there is a good chance a Devers type would be coming back in a hypothetical JD trade anyway.
  14. Salty put him in a bad count. Three strikes thrown and somehow in a 2-1 count.
  15. I don' t have much of a presence here yet but this sounds like something I would be interested in.
  16. I can't say I am surprised Donaldson is not playing. I was not expecting him too. The jays have frequently put on the rose coloured glasses when talking injuries in the past. A couple more games missed and a DL stint is how this typically ends.
  17. I did feel bad picking a player going against the jays.
  18. Wasn't he waived by the Rays? Wouldn't he have gone through the AL first if that is the case? Or are the rules different first week?
  19. Can you guys help me out since I am new here? Is RealAccountant one of the resident trolls I should just ignore?
  20. I am not referring to the previous 108 years here. I am referring to several years before when they were given the go ahead to tear down and acquire young pieces and higher picks. I will see if I can dig up the article I found about this.
  21. I think it is also worth noting that the Cubs went through some very bad years to get higher picks. The Jays have never been willing to tank or sell off in the past due to the want to keep the viewership numbers up for the parent company.
  22. I enjoyed reading a first hand account. I would love to see more throighout the year. Thanks.
  23. Is it just me or has Zeke's defense been atrocious this spring too?
  24. I always thought he was a little too full of himself and stubborn in his ways. That being said, from what I heard he was excellent in the community so I commend him for that. Nothing Else Matters I would say with his defense alone he will be a guy who floats around the league for quite a while lioely never as a regular. He might thrive in the senior circuit. PS. I am so happy I no longer have to see that Kansas City fan as your picture. It used to anger me everytime I saw his dumb grin.
