  1. Very relieved Gif was in in the 9th.... Win is a win!! Go Jays!!
  2. So frustrated this is a save situation..
  3. Loup to me is like Ricky Romero.. When Madden used to stack his line-up with lefties even though Romero was a LHP. They would all slam the s*** out of him from the left side..
  4. Pretty sad you have a 8-1 lead in the 7th and you will have to probably use at least 4 guys from your pen and your closer to start a 9 game road trip...
  5. What happens if/when you exceed 6 mound visits?
  6. That is the Jesse Chavez we know and love:D
  7. Martin couldn't even put it in play and let the D make a mistake..
  8. We need him to start the inning.. and PH for Martin... We might not get to Gift..
  9. Why is Urena not in the conversation? He did fine in his time up last year..
  10. I am saying that we need to be able to score runs without a HR... Over the course of 162 games, scoring runs with HRs only is not sustainable.. That was our problem in 2016... Especially in the playoffs etc... I hate Shapiro talk... But one word is important for offense.. "sustainable".. The Champion teams can score with the HR or manufacture runs..Look at Houston and the Royals.. Not taking anything away from the last three games.. Would just like to see we have the ability to put up 5 runs even if we don't hit the HR or manufacture a run in a close game.. Especially based on our record of one run games the past number of years.
  11. Good job TEAM... A win is a WIN.. Even if I am scared that it was all HRs, which is just not sustainable... Don't get me wrong, very happy and good pitching from #5... Will take that all year long...!
  12. Even a broken clock is right twice a day... I do give him credit for a big time clutch HR... As opposed to if we are wining or losing 8-0. However, unless he is going to do that 50 times a year, which he wont, I would like to see him change his pull only and HR swing with 2 strike approach. I am very happy though!!
  13. Texas is a smart organization.. I always thought it weird we could get him over anyone else and Texas let him go... Seemed to good to be True... His arm will probably fall off by May..
  14. Same story as last year... They rely 85-90% on the HR... Apart from the Pillar 3 stolen bases and I think 2 RBIs singles, all other runs have been via HR.. As we saw last year, not sustainable.. That is why we were NOT a 500 team last year and this year we are at 500...
  15. Is it a coincidence that the only hitters that I have seen shorten up with 2 strikes came from an different organization?? I really wonder what our hitting coaches'/manager's philosophy is?? Or if they have the balls to tell a player like Martin to change his glory/hero approach...
  16. Martin has been a horrible situational hitter for a while now.. He is always trying for a HR and pulling the ball. I want to jump through the TV and tell him to go opposite field, just move the runners along!!! We are down 1-0 at home with 0 out and a pitching duel.. Another horrible AB by Martin. Get rid of your fnnnn loser man bun also!! Both Martin's famous ABs in the last few years were a slow hit to SS, that was an error and led to him getting on in THE 7th inning. And then hitting into a DP which was another error for the Donaldson dash... If he stops walking he will be nothing but defense..
  17. What the hell is BJ Upton is in LF? What a way for a veteran to set a bad tone and screw your pitcher..
  18. Gibby with either look like a tool or stud with Granderson batting 4th. A guy who was suspected might retire and left off a playoff roster last year is hitting clean-up... We shall see... Regardless, I don't think it is sustainable for him or the Team even if he has a good game.. Very happy to see Martin down in the 7th spot.. Props to Gibby for finally listening to me.. Go Jays!!!!
  19. Ok, let me clarify and say last two months vs whole second half. Regardless, it was not a good entire year. August: .240/.307/.481 with 6 home runs in 26 games. September: .183/.315/.323 with 2 home runs in 27 games.
  20. I was saying that Martin should not be hitting anywhere below 7th IMO... I think maybe we agree with that.. I am more frustrated at Gibbons consistently putting Martin middle order. This is a blurb from FS: When you have two distinct halfs in a year, I don't' think that is being consistent: Osuna had a tale of two seasons in 2017, the young closer pitched his way to his first All-Star game appearance after a first half earned run average of 2.06 slamming the door on 22 games. The second half of the season was not as kind to the young closer as he struggled with anxiety issues and his earned run average ballooned to 4.97. Plus he led the league in blown saves last year. I acknowledged they did well on position depth.. A Year too late, but I think they did well this year. Biagini has not proven he can be a good major league starter yet.. not even 5th spot. Again, my issue is with Smoak (horrible second half and spring so far) Morales, bad 2017, and Martin, hitting too high in order. I wish they would mix it up so you don't have three station to station, high K guys hitting three in row.. It appears that is the order Gibbons favors.
  21. Very worried about a lot of aspects of this team. I think we will see the combo of Smoak, Morales and Martin is a horrible middle of the order. Talking about a High K , DP threesome. Smoak had a good half-year, and it was the first half. Martin has not been good since fall 2016. Morales is regressing and too slow. I still am baffled as to why Gibbons keeps hitting Martin so high in the order. The bullpen is not a strong spot as some have said in the media.. or a position of strength. Really have no idea if Osuna will be consistent, Loup sucks.. the rest of te guys are crap shoots.. Too many good game, then horrible game guys.. We need a back-up catcher that hits better than a pitcher. Granderson was left off the playoff roster and many thought he would retire.. No team speed if you actually have the first choice starting line-up of Travis, Tulo and Pierce Like the depth pieces.. But still very worried about a threesome of Smoak, Morales and Martin.. No SP depth!! Rather see Danny Jansen up this year then Male. Think 1B will be a weak spot.. No good replacements available yet.. I think they need to get T Hernandez in there consistently somehow...
  22. Osuna blew a lot of saves last year during a stretch and then he had the psych issues.. Was not the same pitcher as 2016. As you know relievers are finicky and he is young. Don't believe we have enough margins to get anywhere without our 3 win closer. If this team is in a position to win a game we need to finish it. I would like to have another closer type just in case and if all is well use as set-up man. I don't see that in our pen now.
  23. We still need a back up catcher.. Not just a pulse as we have now. Need much more BP help. Don't like the K rate of starting 9. Why does Sportsnet and the Jays (apparently) consider Loup one of the BP locks. Loup needs to earn his way on the team and we need to cut bait if he does not perform. Need more lefties in pen not including Loup. Good IF depth for once. Atkins should have realized that after 2016, for the 2017 season. It was obvious to any casual fan. However, I guess better late than never. Very worried about Estrada's back, Sanchez blister, Happ's whatever... and which Osuna we will get.... Still need a lot more work.. Let's go!
