  1. I would probably take Varsho over 90% of that list, but certainly over Bart.
  2. Did the guy miss some calls, or bang your wife, mother and your sister..? Damn Dude..
  3. Maddon is probably singe handedly responsible for destroying Ricky Romero.. When Maddon started stacking his lineup with lefties vs a LHP, that was what made the damn burst on Ricky Ro's career..
  4. Hurt again... Impossible not to factor in his injury history/propensity... Doesn't do s*** for you if not in the line-up..
  5. Anyone else see the resemblance between Tapia and the Alien in Predator? Every game I start seeing that…. Get to the Choppppppaaaaa!
  6. Not wanting to get a just approved COVID vaccine does not equal Anti-vax. Just say players who are not vaxed and leave it at that. Why instigate stuff we are not allowed to debate on the board, it never ends well.
  7. Remember that we are in a more difficult situation when it comes to extensions with the three MLB sons. The average player and more so those from the DR, Cuba, Venezuela etc, consider obtaining generational wealth in an extension. Hedging against an injury or declining performance or market factors to lock in their payday for themselves and their family. Most of the time these players came from nothing or humble roots. Vlad jr, Bichette and Biggio have never had to worry about money a day in their lives. All three know if they had a career ending injury tomorrow, they are all three set for life. Extensions will be very difficult IMO with at least Vlad and Bo.
  8. It was not about his salary. It was about his results after the month of May every year, his OBP, K rate, etc, etc, coupled by the fact he did not provide plus D to compensate. No way in hell you can assess this trade in April. If you do want to talk about contracts and $, the Grichuk deal/extension was an example of one of the ones they got wrong. To the FO’s credit, they have got about 70% right. Grichuk just wasn’t one of them.
  9. Why doesn't he talk about Kikuchi's reduced fastball velocity 2nd half of last season. So the good: Hard throwing lefty in Yankee stadium can help neutralize the short porch in right field and lefty bats. Had great first half last year. We are in the first half. Worried about sustainability and going into Fenway 2nd half playoff run etc... In reality, don't need to worry about that now. Had zero worries about Manoah going into yesterday's game. He only hardened my resolve. Great run prevention from the Jays. Pitching/defense last night! Not so confident about tonight's game... We shall see.
  10. I heard he is contacting the MLBPA and appealing the ban. MLB would knock it in half after appeal.
  11. If you would have replied to that poster with the last 3 paragraphs of your post. No one would have said anything. You were being a bully, your were being self righteous, you were being a know it all. There is NOTHING I can see in your posting, history or background to make your opinion have more credibility then anyone else. It is not about being a grandma. It is about before the internet even existed I didn't like bullies. Now you are being a bully, flat out hard stop. Just post like you did the last three paragraphs and show him why his "opinion" is "wrong" sin the diatribe. L54 is exactly right. Who wants to come on to this page to debate/talk baseball which is the point and be the recipient of the vitriol you were spewing. There are posters on here with high post counts, even cool screen names who consistently are wrong in their baseball assessments and opinions. High quantity of posts and low quality of posting as proven by results opposite to what they were preaching as fact/the gospel. Some are even mods. I missed the memo where you or any other poster is superior to another as long as it is a purely baseball discussion. Lastly, talking baseball and putting forward an alternate opinion is not trolling. I know trolling when I see it, that is not it! Chillax and talk baseball dude, not personal attacks!
  12. If you are talking about, me, I never said our BP sucked, I do think it still needs improvement. I was replying to posters who said it was one of the top 10. It helps to look at things objectively. The writer states it is basically a toss up between the Red Sox and Jays BP. What the Red Sox writer also says, is that the Yankees and Rays have better pens. That is kinda of important when both are in our division and in the context of a playoff push. This is not directed at just you, but it seems like many on here have lost their ability to be objective and are letting homerism or articles from the Toronto Star shape their opinions.
  13. Our BP is 4th in the division according to a Red Sox writer.. https://www.overthemonster.com/2022/4/6/23012539/boston-red-sox-roster-bullpen-matt-barnes-jake-diekman-garrett-whitlock-kutter-crawford-robles Division Standing It’s always hard to judge bullpens from other teams because there are always players who pop up out of nowhere that are hard to see coming unless you follow the team closely on a day-to-day basis. The Yankees, though, I think are still on top with Aroldis Chapman, Jonathan Loáisiga, and Chad Green as a formidable big three, and some good depth behind that. The Rays always have an elite bullpen, so they have to be in the top two and you could probably argue them for being above the Yankees. I went back and forth between the Blue Jays and Red Sox a lot. I think Jordan Romano is the best (especially if we’re not counting Whitlock) reliever between either team, but the depth goes slightly in the favor of Boston, I think. And then Baltimore, well they have one of the worst on-paper bullpens I can remember after trading Cole Sulser and Tanner Scott. Yankees Rays Red Sox Blue Jays Orioles
  14. I think you need to chill, your opinion is not anymore important nor credible then this guy. Who the f*** do you think you are spouting off on the guy like this for having a baseball opinion. You are saying you can't complain about a player until they make a single start in a Jay's uniform? He has an alternate opinion on Berrios. However, is what he said about Ryu wrong? Kikuchi had a very poor second half, and is coming to the AL East... You are acting like an internet bully, go look in the mirror, reflect on how you are talking to people who's only crime is not hobbing the knob of our Team construction and be a better person. That poster didn't deserve that diatribe.
  15. My guy said no, he is full up with Fantasy Teams this year. Sorry guys..
  16. Orioles talked about this a number of months ago. If I recall it has to do with attracting FA pitchers to sign with them. No pitcher wanted to pitch in that hitter friendly band box.
  17. Mets DFAd Jordan Yamamoto today. Sad, super nice guy in person and I was pulling for him...
  18. I just reached out to a guy I thought might be a good fit. Not sure if he is willing to take another Team. I will let you know as soon as I know.
  19. I phoned Ross after he signed Roark to a two year deal. Wasn’t too long after he called me back and said Carlos, you were right and DFA’d Roark. With Yisuki we received the Randal Grichuk of pitchers. Great first half, s***** second half. Yisuki sucked in the second half last year and down the stretch/playoff run. Velocity was down and he does not seem durable.
  20. I hadn’t checked recently and thought Manoah was in the third spot. Regardless, between age, nagging injuries and inconsistencies, I don’t have a heck of a lot of faith in Ryu to go deep much anymore. (Deep these days is 5 plus or 6).
  21. IIR that was the same/similar reaction you had when I criticized the the Roark deal and told you he sucked.
  22. Don’t believe in 4 and 5. Manoah is fine, talent needs to equal results and Ryu is just not dependable IMO. Worried pen will get wore down, burnt out and don’t see the depth.
