  1. I assume Coghlan will be DFA, and one of the relievers with options will be sent to AAA.
  2. Good win, great bullpen performance.
  3. Buck said Barnes sat down after the Barney homerun, Smith will pitch the 8th. You know Gibby and his set roles.
  4. Can imagine him getting annoying for the others, Tulo didn't look amused!
  5. Another good day at the plate for Pillar
  6. At the very least Biagini could now be the long reliever when everyone is fit. He could potentially start full time if Estrada is traded at the deadline if we're not in playoff contention. Stroman, Sanchez and Biagini would be 3 young, exciting, controllable starters. Let's hope Joe builds on today.
  7. 13 pitch first inning for Joe - can't ask for more than that!
  8. Plus Sanchez too if he comes through his rehab start OK
  9. Sunday, May 7: Toronto Blue Jays at Tampa Bay Rays game preview Biagini is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA this season, but his 14 appearances have all been out of the bullpen for a total of 18 2/3 innings. He threw a season-high 41 pitches in his last outing but hasn’t gone longer than two innings in any of his appearances. Toronto’s bullpen only had to pitch two innings Saturday, so they’ll be relatively well-equipped to handle a larger role in Sunday’s series finale. The Rays answer with Cobb, who is 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA in six starts this season, bouncing back nicely from Tommy John surgery iin 2015. Cobb hasn’t faced Toronto this year but is 3-2 for his career with a 3.86 ERA against the Jays.

  11. Yeah, a QO was made, he had a week to decide and in that time agreed his current contract.
  12. And apparently Liriano had a QO when he was with the Pirates - so he's out too.
  13. Arguably the bigger impact is that a player who's already had a QO in his career cannot be offered another one (irrespective of whether they accepted it or not). Estrada was offered one in 2015 so can't be offered another.
  14. I think his point is that if it was Donaldson or nothing, a team that needs a 3B might be more tempted to overpay, and/or an auction occur if more than one team is involved. If there are decent players available for a lot less, teams may be more likely to settle for a lesser player, than giving up more assets than they want to.
  15. In a weird way that's kind of encouraging. I don't believe that we're as bad as our record and therefore a complete rebuild isn't inevitable.
  16. The things that have turned this season so far from a slow start to a historically bad one are the Donaldson injury, and the awful start from Travis & Pearce. JD is the team MVP. Pearce was meant to quickly win an everyday role and result in one of Smoak or Carrera getting released. Travis was mean to hit for average and therefore give rbi opportunities for the sluggers. All the other factors (Injuries, Bautista, slow first few weeks from Martin, Osuna & Grilli issues, Salty) would likely still have resulted in a slow start but we'd probably be around .500 if JD, Travis and Pearce (1/3 of the lineup) had provided what was expected.
  17. And Travis hitting like we know he can - he's key IMO.
  18. Put the tank on hold boys!
  19. This game feels much more important now than it should be. A loss today would be devastating, but a win would feel great!
  20. For once this season it's not the Jays that are snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!
  21. Yeah and it sounded and looked like it was gone off the bat.
  22. Buck explained that Sanchez had about 1/3 of his nail removed, and it scabbed over (gross I know), but it then opened up today. He speculated that the remaining part of the nail might be damaged too.
  23. Boom, thought that was gone, but still who hoo!
