    Is Springer washed at 33 years old? I expected his downturn to be when he turned 35. But one hit in his last 43 ab’s and we’re getting into Chris Davis territory. The Jays organization really has to react here. Call in a special assistant (Dante Bichette?) to get these bats going. Don’t know how much blame to place on hitting coaches (do players even listen to them?) but maybe a firing is in order to, if nothing else, wake these guys up.

    Short of winning the World Series, how they handle the Bo and Vladdy contract situations may well be the defining points of the Shapiro/Atkins era. Whether it involves trading or signing it will impact this team for the rest of this decade. Interesting times ahead.

    Obviously the Bichette injury required a course change for Atkins and he had to plug a hole, and that right quick. He would have added another impactful bat otherwise. Overall, this team is poised to have a good last third of a season. One of Ryu, Manoah, Kikuchi or Bassitt has to really emerge and separate themselves to own the #3 spot in this rotation. Going into the playoffs with question marks after Gausman and Berrios is not a good place to be. Don't despair of the bats folks. Pitching and defense will lead us to the promised land. Book it.
