  1. Vladdy repeating 2024 + Bichette bounce back + Two or more players exceeding eapectations ( looking at you Varsho, Gimenez, Clement, Wagner, Kirk) + Healthy pitching staff + At least one team in the Al East s***ing the bed _________________________ = Playoffs will be easy to make.
  2. Piazza roid rage
  3. As long as you don't institute some new tariff system we should be okay...... probably.
  4. Gotta admit a potential Verlander vs Scherzer matchup this July in Toronto would be great.
  5. Yeah we might have dodged a bullet here. I wasn't as bullish on the polar bear as some on here. Let's see if Atkins can go to plan c.
  6. In the past we would just do them by whoever started the gdt. Nothing scheduled. If the person starting threads was on a win streak the unwritten rule was that they had precedence on starting that days gdt. Again completely informal. Sometimes a thread would not be posted until minutes before game time. Brock, if you require it to be posted by 11am then perhaps you should start the thread. Some posters participate exclusively in gdt's and vice versa. I'm good with whatever consensus you arrive at. Hopefully I will be able to post the JaysDance.gif at least 87 times this upcoming season. 😉
  7. Bassett should just keep his mouth shut and pitch. Everytime the guy opens his mouth people act like he's Yoda talking. He's a mediocre journeyman pitcher who doesn't have a single great pitch so he relies on six different ones. He is lucky to be employed in the majors.
  8. If something falls apart it won't be on Shapiro and Atkins at this point. It is all on the coaching staff and players to execute. The 74 win season may have come with a huge silver lining. In my mind I think ownership asked the question something along the lines of "What is it going to take to field a competitive/compelling team?". Since Shapiro is on his last year I suspect he gave it to them unfiltered and unabashed: IF YOU WANT TO WIN AND COMPETE WITH THE BIG BOYS, THEN UNTIE OUR HANDS. Now the above is conjecture but I suspect it is closer to the truth than the other way around. At this point you have to tip your hat to Jays management for perhaps the best off season of any team in MLB. Which franchise moved the needle more since October? Granted the Jays had a lot of room to improve but you can't deny the outcome. Either way, something to look forward to. Personally I can't wait for pitchers and catchers to report for spring training.
  9. If I'm Bowden Francis, I would be pretty pumped knowing I could spend a season picking this guys brain for all things pitching related. Heterochromia for the win!
  10. All those pundits trying to predict how much the Jays had allocated to spend this off season were out to lunch.
  11. His pick off move when throwing with a runner on 1B was a thing of beauty.
  12. I'm kind of surprised that there isn't more push back on signing Alonso on this board. Especially if it ends up being three plus years. I mean one dimensional player, will be on the wrong side of 30, slash line decline over the last three years and will probably strike out 160 times next season, a slug on the base paths, etc. Don't get me wrong, we need the HR's but...
  13. Most other teams aren't in on as many guys as the Jays. I guess we should be grateful that the CBT threshold actually means something to this team. For many other franchises it is just a number that will never have meaning.
  14. I keep hearing media talk about Sal Perez being automatic for HOF then why shouldn't Martin have a shot?
  15. Some of the regulars, myself included, always used them.
  16. On the old board we were able to add signatures to our posts. Does such a function exist on this new board?
  17. For a backup C, anything other than good defence, being a good receiver is gravy. Another good move by Rosco! Extend Atkins now😜
  18. I get the sense this off-season is now turning towards a buyers market. The orgs patience and unwillingness to over pay may start paying dividends, starting with the Santander signing. Maybe Bregman doesn't get AAV he's looking for? Maybe Alonso has to settle for something other than the optimal outcome. Could be good news for the Jays.
  19. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Likeable guy. The Jays need some of his high energy and enthusiasm after a losing season. Said he will play "wherever the skipper needs me." Feeling pretty good about this signing.
  20. Springer batting leadoff in 2025 tells us that Schneider has not really developed as a manager. You would think that after the past few seasons he has learned to break away from his traditional thinking and become more dynamic in his approach. He has to change it up or we may be in for a long season. Keep doing what you've always done.....
  21. Over at the Orioles hangout... The Santander appreciation thread: https://forum.orioleshangout.com/topic/56195-the-anthony-santander-appreciation-thread/ Surprisingly magnanimous.
  22. Considering that Wilner has turned on old Ross, kind of makes me want to pull for Atkins even more. Yes, Wilner is that unlikeable.
  23. Kind of funny to see posts about Ross Atkins contingency plan. In case you couldn't figure it out last season...
  24. If he gives the Jays 35+ knocks a year then it will be a successful signing. Anything less, considering his one dimensional utility, well, not much to get excited about. A few more pieces to go and we may have something.
