    Some players like playing when they wired opposed to being well rested. The worse thing you can do is call up an everyday player and have him sit him for 4 or 5 days and expect him to perform for you. That's pretty much what happened with Upton. Padres sat him 2 straight games traded him here. He sat for another day. He than was in and out of the lineup for another few days before getting regular at-bats. That's extremely tough. Especially with expectations.

    I agree. He could have played everyday against RHP.

    Upton Jr will run everything down and make it look easy in Center. But he won't make those rediculous diving catches Pillar makes. Especially the ones coming in. We got a little spoiled by that. But I'm really not worried about CF defense. We need his bat to play a little more. I really wasn't expecting this. He was actually pretty good in San Diego at limiting his slumps compared to his absolute past free falls. He's definitely trying to do to much. I think he gets a few big hits for us before its all said and done. Hes a free 4th OF next year.

    Torn ligament in your thumb is not a very minor injury. I would imagine just gripping a bat would be painful. He already has enough issues at the plate.
