Pretty sure Yariel doesn’t have enough service time to elect free agency. If he gets outrighted pretty sure the Jays can put him in the minors. Good chance we don’t see him again but he could be re-added. They just lot all confidence in him.

I prefer Ernie in the super sub role. But I think he should be playing a lot more Shortstop if Gimenez is the primary Shortstop going forward. I just don't know if you want Gimenez to get 600 at-bats in a Season.

Going to be honest going in the off-season I never even considered Kyle Tucker a possibility for the Blue Jays. Kinda sick they are going after him. He really is a special bat but doesn't get enough credit for the other elements of his game. Especially his base running. He's a legit 30/30 threat.

There's definitely teams who would like him as an innings eater if the Jays are eating 20-30 million of that contract. Whether its straight cash or taking another teams bad contract I think it's very doable and any savings you can get would be considered a win to reallocate those funds that will help this Baseball team.

I wouldn't consider it high risk at all. It's a bargain for a pitcher that projects as well as him on the open market. I mean he could s*** the bed but that's not a contract that will haunt them by any means. Jays have punted worse. Tanner Roark got a higher yearly salary for example lol.

Pretty much yes. He was terrible in 2024 in Japan. Went to the KBO added 2 MPH velocity and a sweeper and put up the most statistically dominant seasons in that league. Struck out everyone including an 18 strikeout game. Fun fact be broke Ryu’s record lol.

Yup I agree a lot of the people who cover this team have been the same people for a long time that are stuck in the old style of thinking. And I don't know if they do that to temper expectations of the fan base or they actually don't understand the scope of the market they work for. Rogers a massive billion dollar company that could easily eat the tax fees without much impact. The front office is probably more pushed back by the lost of draft picks or things that could impact the on field product opposed to the potential tax bills. Rogers clearly see's the Blue Jays from the perspective of an investment and they know putting more money in means more money coming out. They own everything when it comes to the team and had a massive payout on that 2025 team. I bet they are all saying imagine we could fill that stadium every night from Game 1 in 2026. Really jump ticket sales, merchandise sales, and people forget this will be the teams 50's Anniversary so they are going to want to pump out and sell a lot of stuff related to that. Specials jerseys, hats, ect. It's a big year and they want to make sure the on field product delivers because the excitement is something you want to take full advantage of.

Call me crazy but I feel the Jays are going to try to sign Imai and worry about what to do with Berrios later. You got Gausman and Bieber coming off the books next year. Imai is a talent that might be too hard to pass up on especially with no compensation attached to him. You go into next season with a rotation of Cease Gausman Imai Yesavage Bieber Move Berrios potentially or who knows if hes even healthy. A lot of people question if Bieber is healthy and maybe that's why he opted in despite getting way more on the open market. We don't get to know any of this stuff until after it happens. I just won't be shocked by it. They just saw the true value of Starting Pitching in the World Series. And how the Dodgers used every starter they had to win Game 7.,

I feel Cease has been on the Jays radar for years. There was rumours they were trying to trade for him at the deadline before the Padres decided not to sell.

It should come as no surprise that the team that values putting the ball in play and grinding out at-bats has identified how valuable swing and miss is. All of a sudden with Yesavage and Cease in the mix you got an insane amount of swing and miss in your rotation. No contact is better than any form of contact.

With someone like Imai on the market it has to be tempting for them to want to build a super rotation. It will be interesting to see what happens. They definitely need to add a big bat but pitching wins.

I’m just saying don’t be shocked if they sign another one. No guarantee they want Berrios back in the rotation after how last year ended. The option to eat money and move him is on the table.

The contract is confirmed to have differals. Don’t think this eliminates another Starter addition yet.
