  1. Varsho’s best asset is Outfield defence. I don’t think putting him behind the plate does anything for us.
  2. Its getting tougher and tougher to justify his spot as an everyday player. He can’t just play because of who he was traded for. He might have to take a seat and clear his head get ready for Defense and Pinch Running roles.
  3. Exactly how I am viewing it. I feel like we should be able to bring guys in from the minors or minor league deals that can fill Bullpen rules. There is also always guys returning from injuries or had a down season and are had for cheap. I don't dislike Yimi in the proper role. I don't like him in that role at $6m. But people here seem to disagree and that's fine.
  4. GDT for anyone who has the LetTheBallFly on ignore https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/11060-GDT-1-3-Toronto-Blue-Jays-Los-Angeles-Dodgers(10-10-ET)
  5. Think we can all agree on this. He had some miserable years with LA and tried to reinvent himself and its been successful this season. Will it be effective long term only time will tell. He has been luckier but he has also made a s*** load of more contact than he has in previous years. The strikeout rate difference is astonishing. He's basically a completely different type of hitter but maintained the Defense and Base running.
  6. I have always lived by the rule that you ride with your best pitcher and live with the result. Nobody in that situation would have questioned Gausman coming back out at 87 pitches. He wasn't dominant that day but he is the best pitcher on the team. And where they were in the lineup and the way he had settled down he was the best option hands down. Pearson was unfortunately awful it could have worked out if he wasn't. But when Gausman still has bullets I would like to see him in the game.
  7. I would be a fan of a Jonathan India pick up. More in there for sure
  8. July 24 (10:10pm) Vladdy - 1 Point - Springer - 2 Points - Belt - 2 Points - John Havok Chapman - 3 Points - Dylan Varsho - 4 Points - JaysAllMighty Kirk - 5 Points - Merrifield - 6 Points - Kiermaier - 7 Points - Jonn Espinal - 7 Points - Off the bench: 10 Points - Abomination
  9. I wasn't aware people were in your DM's harassing you about Bellinger. I have taken some shots but all in good fun and public on the board. Bottom line Bellinger was a good signing for the Cubs. Kiermaier was a good signing for us. I never disliked the Kiermaier signing it was more about health and whether or not the Jays were going to add a right-handed bat to compliment both Kiermiaer and Varsho. Ultimately that didn't happen and the Jays are still looking for that guy. I am in the boat that Kiermaier should be playing against lefties over Varsho. I don't understand why Varsho starts in CF vs Lefties. It's confused me the entire season.
  10. If we’re spending $6 million a year on reliever I would just prefer someone who does a better job preventing base runners. His K rate is good but his stuff just isn’t consistent outing to outing. We see his fastball perform better with ample rest. So yes if used correctly he’s an asset but maybe I just want more from that spot. I just don’t want to see out flexibility hampered by relievers being overpaid. The team is getting expensive and the lack of prospect development has really made the issue worse. We pay a premium for back end Starters instead of develop them it makes things tough. We’re currently paying 4 Starting Pitchers over $20 million a season. But atleast Ryu is coming off the books.
  11. I liked both signings the fact that you fail to understand that astonishes me. This was never a Kiermaier vs Bellinger debate but you decided to make it into one just to argue with people.
  12. Ah the peaks and valleys of role players. Gotta love Baseball.
  13. Yimi Garcia is not worth $6m. Period. Don’t read anymore into it than that. Poor asset management. I’m very aware of his performance since June. Hes been better in low leverage. He sucks in high leverage or extended outings. He’s replaceable plain and simple. Don’t know what’s so hard to understand about it. They gotta stop the option from vesting. Perhaps the team and him can come to some kind of agreement that its not picked up. But he still gets his buyout. Very expensive middle reliever. Where is this info even coming from that he has over 11 strikeouts per 9 in “high leverage” what does this source even associate as “high leverage”. He has clearly not been the setup man or used as often in close late games the past couple months so I’m calling BS. He worked his way into more leverage recently and it has not gone well. I don’t even think he’s that bad if used correctly. But for that price its a no for me.
  14. I will roll with the MVP tonight.
  15. You would think as a professional athlete you would want to make maximize your potential performance. If not for the love the game. Your earning potential. It’s just strange to me. Nobody is telling these guys nerd to be shredded to the bone and under 10 percent body fat. We’re setting the bar at just being in shape to perform at your job. It requires just a little self care and discipline.
  16. And some team will probably overpay him for multi year deal. But my point to Sherman is the one year deal he signed with the Cubs looks like a good bit of business for them. He was calling people idiots in the off-season for suggesting he was signed to a one year deal here. Cubs will flip him for some decent assets.
  17. Your limited Baseball knowledge is showing Shermantor.
  18. 2.8 in WAR in 68 games Good Defense regardless if he plays OF or 1B. Good base runner. .370 On Base. OPS over .900 All for a show me one year contract. Yes please. Would have loved to have that on my team this year. He would be the best hitter on our team.
  19. He has been much better but has also been awful his last couple times out. I just think he can be cut bait and that money can be better spent elsewhere. Going to be a tax team soon. Can’t afford to be giving middle relievers $6m. Young arms from Buffalo need to emerge at some point.
  20. So me calling him a rockstar because he’s been awesome for the Cubs means I can’t read a statcast page ok bud lol. God forbid I’m happy for a player for having a career resurgence. Sorry it’s not up to your standards.
  21. What about not being fat out of self respect for yourself. What happened to that?
  22. Manoah I just don't really see as an asset out of then pen Kikuchi absolutely could be. Hes the best option and probably will be in the post season provided we get there. You don't need 5 starters in the playoffs but he would also be likely to start over Manoah. Lots of decisions need to be made.
  23. It makes the most sense to keep Manoah as depth in AAA or Kikuchi to the Bullpen. Only 2 moves that make sense. But Kikuchi doesn't deserve to lose his job to Manoah. And Kikuchi's last outing was the best I have seen him pitch for the Blue Jays.
  24. I am sure Manoah will get one more start atleast. Before they make the decision on whether or not they go with a 6-man rotation or just ride with 5. It only works if they are all pitching well. Taking starts away from Berrios and Gausman doesn't sound exciting to me though. I want those guys pitching as often as possible.
  25. It's also possible Ryu was already hurt and was pitching through it before he ultimately f***ed it for good. He's healthy and in the best shape hes been in a long time. We know good he can be. He's also a pending Free Agent so he has incentive to pitch well to get paid in the off-season and guarantee himself a Starting job.
