  1. Yeah, they're saying the right things about Ryu, so I'm hoping that means he's good. Worse case, they can always line-up Manoah in AAA with the days Ryu is starting, and if the latter needs an IL stint, you can call Manoah back up.
  2. I wonder if the corresponding move is Manoah to AAA or is it Jackson back on leave to visit his son? If it's Jackson or demoting Francis, it's not great, as we should add an extra BP arm after Manoah's short start instead of keeping him on with all those off-days coming. There's an off-day 6 days from now, which is perfect, as it keeps the other 5 starters on an extra day of rest still. Manoah is just not needed.
  3. Even if he motivated himself this offseason, changed his swing, slimmed down, you can't trust him to keep the same process after giving him a massive extension. You honestly need to hope he turns it around and we can trade him for a haul next season.
  4. Grounderro Jr special
  5. He's on the 40-man already, luckily, so he can come up near the end of September and still be eligible for the post-season if we want him on it. I believe the rules are you need to be on the 40-man on 8/31 to be playoff eligible. That said, if Belt or Guerrero go down, I think he's up. Right now, he'd be competing with Belt for ABs, not Espinal/Biggio.
  6. He's definitely earned it now that the power has emerged and everything else and remained.
  7. He must have made a tweak during the ASB. He's been hitting for power ever since then. He probably made a slight angle update in his swing and practiced in the cages for a few days to perfect it.
  8. At this point, I think they're up next year dude. You can only bring up 2 extra dudes in September, and if Ryu & Manoah are staying up/healthy, I think the 28 man is below: 1. Merrifield 2. Bichette 3. Belt 4. Guerrero Jr 5. Springer 6. Schneider 7. Jansen 8. Chapman 9. Kiermaier 10. Varsho 11. Kirk 12. Biggio 13. DeJong 14. Espinal ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Gausman 2. Berrios 3. Bassitt 4. Kikuchi 5. Manoah 6. Ryu 7. Romano 8. Hicks 9. Green 10. Mayza 11. Richards 12. Cabrera 13. Swanson 14. Garcia The only bubble guy that Horowitz could possibly be up for is Espinal, because DeJong fills his roll already. I would do it, but not sure the Jays do.
  9. That's true, but you're probably not getting any long term solutions to fill those spots in FA anyway and bringing back Chapman, at what he will command, is not really smart imo. Belt will be a year old as well and could collapse at any moment. Bringing back Whit at his team option cost doesn't seem prudent either. I doubt Hicks commands much term based on performance this season (maybe 3Y?) and you have cost certainty on Green and Romano anyway. The rotation is full as well, with Tiedemann probably up at the back-end of 2024 as well, so in 2025, you still have Gaua, Berrios, Bassitt, Manoah & Tiede. You can throw some payroll at rotation depth, which is fine, but not much to throw it at.
  10. I mean we have a ton of money coming off the books, we could retain all 3 and still have enough for Jansen & Bo extensions. Then you backfill Whit, Chapman & Belt with Schneider, Barger & Horowitz.
  11. One of the grossest lineups of the year.
  12. I think Green's option is picked up. I agree that DeJong's likely isn't.
  13. - Re-sign Hicks - Bichette extension - Jansen extension - 3B/LF short term plug That's my guess.
  14. Yeah I didn't see any bad ABs, he was just beat, he didn't beat himself.
  15. Hicks is just not in his mechanics tonight.
  16. With Ryu likely going down, he likely saves his spot when Romano & Green are here. 1. Gausman 2. Berrios 3. Bassitt 4. Kikuchi 5. Manoah 1. Romano 2. Hicks 3. Green 4. Mayza 5. Cabrera 6. Richards 7. Swanson 8. Garcia
  17. Pearson is 6'6 and tosses FBs at that speed and everyone tees him up, why do we look so overmatched? Not sitting FB I guess, trying to sit in-between?
  18. Schneider filling 2B, Horowitz replacing Belt at DH/1B, using the team option on Whit for LF, and then grab a cheap plug for 3B and trade/release once Barger/Martinez push for a call-up to take 3B.
  19. Lmao it's not just the BABIP either, there's a great approach, no real holes, and hard hit% is high.
  20. If Kikuchi & Manoah keep momentum, is it possible Bassitt could pitch himself off the post-season roster?
  21. Yeah hah. Honestly, after some rest with weekly check-ins with a team dietician, they need to send him to drive-line and re-work that swing and hlhave him with their sports psychologist to re-work his mindset. If he comes back in 2024 as the same guy he's been outside of 2021, you've failed as a front office. The talent is clearly there, you need it consistently extracted.
  22. Yep, he absolutely needs an overhaul on his swing.
