  1. BPA man regardless of type. If a hitter is the BPA on the Jays' board at 5, take him, if he's not so be it.
  2. Would love to read that!!
  3. That's a good point. Hopefully someone is with him helping him to keep trending down and getting trim. Probably needs to lose another 20-30lbs before the Jays brass are satisfied.
  4. Would much rather take them north and stash Drury in AAA. Drury has done nothing this spring to show he's made changes and belongs.
  5. I'm happy with any of those guys. I don't really want to get cute with it and take someone else under slot. I do not want Mitchell either. Those 5-tool guys with the hit tool being the weakest always scare me. They seem to have the highest bust potential it feels. Lacy and Hancock both look like great strikeout artist pitchers. Torkelson looks like a beast 70-80 Hit/Power guy. Gonzalez looks like he'll absolutely rake. I'm probably lowest on Martin, because I don't rate defense nearly as much as hit and power tools. That said, I'm hoping for any of the other 4 first and then Martin if he falls.
  6. Agreed, but he did do this quite well a few years ago in AA, then came up to the majors for a cup of coffee and has struggled ever since. The fact that he has done it before makes me believe he could again, but has zero confidence. Also, altering his swing to match Donaldson has seemed to really mess up his timing and plate coverage.
  7. His biggest issue is between the ears. I feel he would benefit the most from the sports psychology team we have.
  8. Yeah, he has access to our strength and conditioning team this offseason, so he likely turned a lot of upper body fat into muscle, but is core and glutes seem to be unchanged, which by looks seems to be where he stores all his fat. I think the only thing that will trim those areas is a diet change, and I doubt he'll want to do that.
  9. How about "Air Pearson"? We've had Air Canada before for VC, why not use something similar. It would nail multiple marketing metrics imo. It also sounds much cooler than The Airport and rolls off much better than YYZ.
  10. Correct. Pretty annoying. Difficult to gage anything pitch to pitch using that I guess.
  11. LGJ with back to back swinging strikeouts on 3 pitches? Without seeing the ABs, sounds awful.
  12. Vintage Alford
  13. Thomas Hatch. The man with a last name that rhymes with ...
  14. Anyone have the Athletic? I ran out of my free articles for the month, otherwise I'd post it in here. "Bichette’s MVP goal, Guerrero Jr.’s progress, a Ryu-whisperer? 10 Things We Learned at Winter Fest" by Kaitlin McGrath
  15. Yep.. Those "1 more piece" takes were so annoying then and more annoying with the benefit of hindsight.
  16. They shouldn't have to. Minimize his innings from April to June, then call him up with zero inning restrictions. Seems pretty easy to me
  17. It does him a disservice to compare him to Verlander. Lofty expectations for a 17 yr old. He reads as promising though, but I like Asa Lacy myself.
  18. Jimmy Nelson or Alex Wood as relievers could be lights out and actually might stay healthy.
  19. Ah Satire!
  20. What?
  21. Yeah, I like the idea of him being a better Drury if he can't prove to bounce back as an everyday player. Yes that's true, could sign Eddy still, use them as a platoon, and shoot Tellez to the moon. Nothing wrong with that. Tellez to AAA, and go year to year at 1st at the MLB level, analyzing Vlad's D metrics at 3rd, until you need to move Vlad there.
  22. Given it's 1Y/4M, I'd guess it's more likely he could replace Drury eventually, but begin as Smoak's replacement. I wonder if this takes us out on Edwin? He would be a bit redundant after Shaw.
