To go from nearly 11 K/9 over 180 IP in the minors to 4.75 K/9 now is too massive of a change to be completely pinned to the competition upgrade in the majors. Given that his stuff hasn't changed, it's obvious that this has to do with his approach. -
No, but to go from almost 11 K/9 in the MiLB to 4.75 K/9 now is a complete change in philosophy. His stuff is the same as it was then and the dropoff from the minors (AA & AAA) to the majors isn't THAT huge. It's obvious that it's how Stroman is using it at this point. He's using way too many 2SM fastballs and the scouting report on him is well-known now. He's going to get BABIP'd to death as long as this continues.

Of course Gibby deserves blame, as do Cecil and Floyd, but Stroman's pitching to contact crap allowed Gibby to think about that decision in the 1st place. If Stroman is the strikeout guy he was in the MiLB and 2014, maybe he doesn't get BABIP'd and Gibby considers that Stroman might get a strikeout to get out of it. It's all hypothetical but Stroman's pitch to contact crap failed him once again.

Stro deserves this. If this game ended in a win, it would be nice, but Stro probably wouldn't learn from this. Let's hope he stops this awful philosophy going forward.

Of course, but when the difference between Barney and Goins is minimal, with the former likely being a bit better, Gibby's sway probably keeps Goins on the roster. That's what I'm saying.

Do you truly think that Atkins/Shapiro prefer Carrera as the 4th OF instead of Brown/Lake? That's kind of evidence showing that Gibby has a say in these things. I imagine he would with Goins as well.

More so his pitching to contact philosophy, than his performance.
