    Some of the guys we drafted in rounds 4-10 will be underslot. Plus the 5% overage we can use with minimal penalty. That extra pool of cash can be used. The belief is that those dollars will currently be used on Barriera and Toman to sign them overslot

    I think what he's getting at is if Barriera doesn't sign (for example), the punted pick savings that you've accrued would now be able to be presented to Pace (or the other HS picks) instead.

    There are a handful of HS guys that the Jays picked. Not sure where Pace falls in the pecking order with respect to how the Jays view their upside. But yes...if one of the big boys becomes unattainable, they'll be aggressively looking to sign one or two of the HS guys for sure.

    Ideally, if I could choose between a player and a manager, I'd rather a player get the group wound up and motivated. They're the ones that are going in to battle on the field together. The manager, although definitely part of the team, is still at an arms length away.

    Rd 20 (608) - Gregory Pace Jr. - OF - High School- 6'2" 187 "Pace is one of the fastest players in the Draft, but most scouts think his bat isn't ready for pro ball. He ran a 6.21-second 60-yard dash and showed some raw right-handed power in batting practice at the East Coast Pro showcase last summer, but his uphill swing doesn't produce a lot of results in game action. He'd be best off refining his hitting skills and center-field instincts at Michigan rather than signing now."

    Did the Jays forfeit their 20th round pick? Looks like they skip from pick 607 to 609 in the Draft Tracker. Edit: Guess not. Was a glitch in their tracker.
