Well. I like what Dubas has done so far but let's not start deepthroating him just yet. Give him some time. Let's see if he can add some depth to the D and what he does with Matthews, Marner, and Nylander contract situations.

I don't think the intent is for smugness...at least not for me. I think it's a combination of jubilation, excitement, relief. This fanbase has been kicked in the balls very hard for very long, so when things finally do appear to be turning the corner, it's a collective 'it's about time things are finally looking up. Finally we have something to cheer for and it feels like we can actually expect success.' At least that's how I feel as a Leaf fan for over 30 years.

That would actually be an interesting experiment. Every team should just play their D-League team against the Warriors and give them zero competition. Let them go 82-0 then see if they can actually turn it on after a season of essentially nothing but practice.

It's all possible. It's even possible the Leafs don't make the playoffs. Stranger things have happened. But the right pieces are being put together so I'm optimistic. And if the Leafs do make a run it will be sweet seeing you all cringe.
