  1. Largest contracts to a free agent, #BlueJays history Russell Martin 2015 5-Years / $82 M Hyun-Jin Ryu 2019 4-Years / $80 M A.J. Burnett 2005 5-Years / $55 M B.J. Ryan 2005 5-Years / $47 M Doesn't anyone else find this a little sad...that the 4th largest market in North America could only muster up these kinds of historic FA signings?
  2. Big upside with Shaw if he's able to bounce back.

They'll never shorten the schedule. Owners want their ticket, merch, concession sales
  4. Signing Edwin would be just a meh move for me. Doesn't move the needle. It's just a warm body that may be able to give you a reasonable production...but could also turn into Kendry (negative contribution outside the batters box).
  5. Competitive offer is a cousin of the competitive walk

It'll be 7 years at the end of this season that he won his Norris.
  7. No. That's the kind of deal you make (moving high end prospects) when you're a contender with an already established core...but the Jays are nowhere near that.

Worst 3rd period team in the league by a mile.
  10. Build me a winner. That's all I care about.
  11. That's about as expected. Another Top 5 pick in 2021.
  12. They Jays signed Korean born Dong Won Choi in 1981.
  13. A player who wants to be here
  14. You're assuming that gets it done

Who would you be willing to move off the roster to create the necessary cap space for this to happen?
  16. Manoah or Richardson?
  17. More than any of his players make.
  18. He's better than what we have so at the end of the day the rotation is better than it would be without him. The problem with Roark...and it's really not a problem with him at all, but the expectation seemed to be that there would be significant improvement made to the rotation...and it is disappointing when the Jays seem to be on the outside looking in again. I hope Pearson becomes everything we hope he'll be.
  19. I think this approach is fine once you're already a contender (or at the very least on the cusp of being one) with an established core and young pieces that you can afford to move, but the Jays really aren't in that position. they can't afford to move meaningful prospects at this point. I know there's talk about moving Jansen or McGuire...but what are you really going to get for McGuire, and who do they plan on playing 120 games if they move Jansen?
  20. I really hope there aren't people who expected our offseason to go any differently. And to those that want to play the 'it's only December' card... Exactly who, of real consequence, is left that's a top of the rotation type guy that will realistically sign here. Jays will need to trade for someone... Which really sucks cause they're forced to move valuable assets, likely young ones, cause they aren't able to just flash the cheque book and add high-end talent AND keep their assets. We'll see what we've got in March, but I'm expecting 2020 but be similar to 2019.
  21. There's your ace.
