  1. Everyone categorizes differently. For me, as long as they haven't passed that rookie threshold (50IP for pitchers, 150ABs for position players) I consider them eligible in my own mind.
  2. They have...but I'd also like to think that we're objective enough to call a spade a spade and not just nibble on Shatkins taint.
  3. Based on Pipeline, Leo Jimenez and Estiven Machado move to 9 & 10.
  4. Possibly...but they have to get Ray locked up for that to happen. Ray is gonna get PAID.
  5. Ya...it's hard to stomach right now. I'm hoping that Berrios re-signs and the Jays have some post-season appearances during his stay here. That's what it will take for me to be zen with this deal.
  6. It's a nice Top 4. There are 60 games left, and the pen is still a big question mark. They need to play .620 ball to get to 90 wins.
  7. The only thing I'd say about that is that it's always been hard for the Jays (Raptors too) to sign the bigger fish on the FA market. Berrios is a bigger fish. This 1.5 years gives them time to sell the Jays, Toronto, and Canada to Berrios. If they really want to have him here long term, there's a better chance of re-signing him rather than signing him as a FA. Just my opinion.
  8. Trying to turn this into a positive in my prospect loving head. I guess if we're able to work out a deal with Berrios (big if) then this could work out well. If Berrios stays, he replaces, and is likely a meaningful upgrade over what SWR likely will be. The price for that upgrade is Martin. Huge price. But if we're saying our window is officially open, then these are the kinds of pieces the Jays need to somehow add. Groshans and Orelvis are still in the coffers so there are significant IF pieces still moving their way up through the system. This still stings though.
  9. They weren't the only ones. I still think it's not a good deal.
  10. With them losing out of Scherzer, confident that San Diego will get Berrios
  11. Really? So you're saying all 19th best prospects are interchangeable? Gosh.

Ya. From everything I'm hearing and reading, Barnes is a great teammate...and intangibles guy....does all the little things it takes to win....a player that coaches love. But like you said, the word on him is quite limited offensively. Could he work on his shot and improve that? Sure...but just doesn't feel like the type of player you take at 4. I hope the Raps are smarter than the rest of the world. Not sure how many other teams would've gone with Barnes over Suggs.
  13. So Boston's 19th prospect for Schwarber? Was curious who the Jays 19th prospect is. It's Yosver Zulueta.
  14. Not unless we're getting back legitimate core pieces that will be here a little while.
  15. Aside from his K #'s, Van Eyk really hasn't been good. Poor command and getting hit around.
  16. If we had a $300m payroll and was a factory for developing prospects and made the post season every season...ya, I think I could handle that.
  17. I want to see EastCoaster's reaction as he reads this. He may implode.

When is Masai's contract actually up?
  19. Just adds to the infuriating run differential vs. actual record between the two teams
  20. The Dodgers just impose their will. Hope the Jays will be that team one day.

He likely would've been the next pick anyway... But from everything we've heard it was Cade... Then the next three... Then everyone else.

Hope the Raps don't live to regret this
