  1. I wish I could overlap the highlights of that 7th inning with that commentary near the end from the famous Plano East/John Tyler Football game: "Oh no.. OH NO! NO! BAH GAWD OH GOD NO! COME ON NO!....NO... I don't believe it... God bless those kids, I'm sick, I wanna throw up..." ...exactly what I felt that inning as the wheels started coming off.
  2. Well, at least we have the comfort of knowing that we've already come back from this kind of deficit once. Once we get past Cueto we have Chris Young who is easily their weakest link in the rotation. I like our chances. Our crowd will make sure to have Cueto feel uncomfortable like how he felt it in Pittsburgh a few years ago, beat him to submission and we'll be right back into it. 2-0 down and the next game is more or less a must win but not really situation... we've personally seen 2-0 lead by a team in ALCS made up in the next two games; in 1993 it was us who had the 2-0 series lead (AWAY at Chicago at that) but then proceeded to lose the next two. We ended up winning that one anyway but the point is that we can definitely get it back to level in the next two games. Believe, folks. Don't forget our ALDS turnaround.
  3. The Chin scares them all.
  4. At the end of the day I think lack of Cecil hurt us big here... I feel that if Cecil was available Gibby would have been a bit quicker to pull Price after the string of hits. Instead with Loup his only other lefty option with lefties coming up he left Price in there (and I can't blame Gibby for trusting Price over Loup) and paid for it. Not to mention Loup came in anyway and allowed those add on runs later... As for Price, as much as he choked it away in the 6th there after that awful Goins non-catch, I can't all of a sudden just ignore those near-perfect first 6 innings either... of course he still deserves a lot of the blame for what went on in that inning and not finishing it off, but I feel that under normal circumstances with Cecil available he would have been pulled quicker there. And of course, you have to give credit to KC hitters for making the adjustment and stringing together hits too.
  5. And invisible Steve Bartman deflected the ball and Price played the part of Mark Prior.
  6. The invisible steve bartman f***ed that all up for Goins and Price. Surely.
  7. Those should count as errors, seriously.
  8. Velocity. Wire. Glare. Velocity. ...Just muted the channel.
  9. The fox guys have said it, but this is indeed the best post season start I've seen from a Jays starter since game 5 of 92 series by Jimmy Key.
  10. Get at least one more here and it'll be satisfying enough for me. Come on Pillar.
  11. Shuts the Tulo doubters up lol. Awesome.
  12. Doesn't count but what a bare handed catch
  13. I want to acquire Chapman and start him just so that these Fox guys would cream their pants already talking about 95+ fastballs all inning.
  14. The Royals have been very aggressive coming after Price so far... Good for his pitch count.
  15. Should of had one more.. Oh well, on the board finally.
  16. We're making solid contact at the plate and Price looks pinpoint. Liking the way it's going thus far.
  17. Very surprised to see Edwin in there, but I suppose this is the ALCS and we need him to play through it. I'd expect to see a lot of his one handed follow throughs... hope he won't re-aggravate it.
  18. The last time this injury acted up EE needed about 3-4 days rest. Granted this is ALCS and the stakes are huge, but back then it was the Yankees series which was huge and he ended up missing the latter two of those games in that series so... I'm assuming this injury is one of those one simply can't play through well enough in pain/too much risk and danger with further aggravation. But maybe he'll play today, we'll see... It all depends on how he feels. I just don't think the chances of it are too great
  19. Few of the veteran Korean MLB guys like Chan Ho Park before and now Shin Soo Choo eventually learned enough english to get by on their own, but I think these two probably forcefully learned it by default because they were brought up through the minor leagues unlike those other Japanese/Korean players who transitioned from their domestic league to MLB right away (some of those guys like Ichiro/Nomo/Ryu etc I don't think ever dropped their translators). So I think some of it might be due to the connection they feel to the league here and their willingness to learn english on their own to survive through the tough minor league days and such. Kawa's english has gotten better than how it was at first I'm sure, I have this feeling during normal everyday life here he may speak better functional english than what we see on TV; a lot of it is probably playing to his "gimmick" here and the nervousness of talking in front of a camera, etc.
  20. Hoping for an ace caliber game, 7-8 innings ball of 2 runs or so.
  21. Yup. I don't think there's much any other lineups could have done with such pitching from Volquez/Royals' pen, they were pitching too well. Just not enough mistakes out over the plate (and ones that were hit hard were right at guys). We did our best to disrupt the timing and for the most part stayed patient at the plate (very important to keep this approach even when the team isn't hitting) but they never really cracked. When this happens you've just got to tip your cap and move on... at least it wasn't ourselves that made the game for them easier with panicky approach and silly mistakes like in the first two games of the Texas series, that's something that one can get mad about. Price will need to come through big tomorrow. Hope to see an ace-caliber game from him, something like a 7-8 innings with damage minimized to 2 runs or less.
  22. Well Smoak will likely get his at bats tomorrow... I seriously doubt EE plays in tm's game. Smoak will probably see nothing but change and curves from Ventura though if they're competant enough to have done the obvious scouting report.
  23. We may need both Cola and Smoak to start tm the way things are looking. I doubt EE plays tm, last time this happened he needed 3 days off. With Price going and it being (hopefully) a low scoring ball game I don't think Gibby will be risking EE out there tomorrow and give him the full 2 days off. That damn finger/knuckle, maybe he'll need to have a surgery on that or something in the offseason... it's been really, really annoyingly lingering.
  24. Reminds me of game 1 vs Tom Glavine in 1992 or game 5 vs Curt Schilling in 1993... Just simply couldn't do much. Ironically our last postseason game we also got shut out... vs Danny Jackson in 1985 (but we sure did get him back good in 1993!) Their pitchers were nasty and there isn't much we can do about that. The good thing is that we kept to our patient approach at the plate at least, drawing quite a few walks. Keep that up and their pitchers are bound to crack and make a mistake eventually. It is a 7 game series and 1 loss doesn't hurt as much as it does in a 5 game series. Tm's game however needs to be had, Price will need to come up big here. (Especially with EE likely missing until we get back to Toronto).
