  1. Let's see if Mets can overcome the LCS sweep jinx. There's been 7 teams that had a LCS sweep since the best of 7 format was introduced in 1985, and only ONE of those teams won the WS, the 95 Braves.
  2. Hopefully Estrada will come out to pitch in relief in game 7 and sit his ass down again.
  3. Anyone remember when we actually tried Delgado at LF for a while in 94? lol.
  4. Decent fastball, average secondary stuff, doesn't get all that many swings and misses/strikeouts, a flyball pitcher and somewhat vulnerable to homers.
  5. Interestingly this is only our second game 5 victory in a 7-game series in our history. Up to now we had been a dismal 1-6 in them, with that lone victory coming in the 1993 ALCS.
  6. Reminds me of that twitter message jinxing by the Texas Governor during ALDS. Hope this will be a repeat of that, lol.
  7. Probably false hope here, but I wonder if these last few weeks off may have helped Mark B regain some strength in his arm at all... Not that he really helps our situation as his lefty splits are terrible and is not a reliever type, but he does have the experience at least compared to most of the other options...
  8. Jeff Francis, Mark Buehrle. As much as Francis is a junkballer now apparently his career lefty splits are passable, so I still don't get the Tepera choice if he wasn't going to be used vs. lefties anyway.
  9. To be honest I am not sure whether there is an option for bereavement list in the playoffs but if there indeed isn't, then I gotta say that really doesn't make sense to me and MLB needs to revisit that rule.
  10. I really wish that we make a definitive decision on the Loup issue soon. Put him on bereavement or whatever list that is applicable to his situation right now and have another arm available... Buehrle, Francis, Hutch, I don't care. But we can't afford to be left hanging on this issue any longer (with much due respect to Loup & his family).
  11. Tulo is now the RBI leader for this postseason with 11, one ahead of Morales and Hosmer. Pretty amazing considering how downright bad he had looked at the plate early on and still with only .225 average. But all his RBI's have been so clutch.
  12. Tulo was real immense today. That first line drive could have easily been a hit too. Definitely back into the groove now. Shall we bring him back up to the 5th spot now? (or even lead off, although that's probably unlikely)
  13. As I said in the other thread I think Navarro might become a factor here. He will obviously not back up/be a personal catcher for another year so I'm not sure how comfortable and effective Estrada would be with Martin even if he does come back. Has Martin caught Estrada this year at all as a starter? Would be interesting to see the numbers. If Estrada does end up going elsewhere, I can see that team also going after Navarro.
  14. Pedro Volquez. Too bad our crowd won't have the chance to bring back that chant to life again in this series, lol.
  15. Yeah probably not. Was just wondering how that idea would fly here. Yup, and I did mention that he drew that rally starting walk in the post as well. He doesn't draw those walks consistently though, and when he does get on it seems to sort of limit his base stealing ability with big bats coming up afterwards. But I guess with Martin struggling it also leaves a hole after Bats and EE at bats with only Cola behind them. Definitely has its costs as well vs. the benefits.
  16. Well, now that we have a game 6, what are all your opinions on what to do with Revere? He's struggling immensely at the plate right now (although he did draw that rally starting walk) and Tulo is definitely heating up again... it might be an interesting idea to give the Royals pitchers a different look in the lineup, and to lessen the pressure on Revere a little bit/give him more freedom to run. Then again Tulo is waking up at that 6th spot now and driving in runs so it may also be a bit of a risk to take him out of that comfort zone. Thoughts?
  17. Hopefully that's not the final game at the Rogers Centre for this season. Great game.
  18. Damn, he would have been safe if he stayed on the bag. Very hard to stay on the bag on a feet first slide.
  19. Seriously, should we consider having Tulo lead off again? But then I guess we would miss that RBI guy in the middle... But Revere looks so awful right now.
  20. BA box score doesn't have the pitch count/strike ratio for that game unfortunately.
  21. Jimmy Key in game 5 of 1992 WS: 7.2 innings 5 hits 1 ER. Marco Estrada in game 5 of 2015 LCS: 7.2 innings 3 hits 1 ER. Two of our greatest postseason starts look eeriely similar. For Key, it was his last home appearance as a Blue Jay. Hopefully it's not the last time we see Estrada here at home in this postseason Coincidently, both hit free agency after the postseason. Key didn't come back. We'll see if Estrada does.
  22. Strangely reminiscent of Jimmy Key's last start here. We'll see if he returns.
  23. Gone. But still a wonderful outing, Marco. Let's just complete the eight.
  24. Exactly. It's obviously a very serious issue he's dealing with so there's no way he'll be focused enough to pitch effectively for us.
  25. Might be wishful thinking but I want a CG SHO. Might need 120 pitches for that so probably not happening (and he might be needed for game 7) but still.
