  1. is it just me or is there a problem with catcher who paint their nails
  2. the guy doing the pitch track's been drinking with buck
  3. with the way penny is hitting, pillar needs to take second here i'd think
  4. let's get some runners on and knock this guy out of the game
  5. if we r lucky, maybe those games won't mean much by then
  6. now markakis up with man on
  7. was AJ and MB battery mates with the ChiSox?
  8. i say 2 more innings; out top half are all RH; he'll mow right thru them
  9. so far he is completely different pitcher vs RH and LH
  10. He is aggressive and going right after the RH but with LH like the Goins, it seems he is nibbling...
  11. i wonder if Gibby believes in Teheran's RH/LH splits.. If he does, then Navarro and Zeke should be in the lineup
  12. I am not so much looking at his stuff but of all the guys, he understands shut down inning, momentum and all that; he is just not giving it to the team
  13. ... on a 1-2 pitch no less
  14. his stuff works really well against RH
  15. Based on some of the early strike/ball calls by the ump, it looks like it's going to be an inconsistent night
  16. I agree. That's what we said about that 2 game Phillies series
  17. And the Royals last year with Yost
  18. You know after last year based on the brief glimpses of Sanchez and Norris, I expected them to step up big time this year. I was thinking that Sanchez can even be a #2 - purely based on how electric his stuff was. Seeing Sanchez early season struggles as a starter this year, I realized what exceptional talent you need to be (beyond just stuff) for an early-20, 1/2 yr kid to become an ace of a staff. Given this, I sure hope Stro does well but I am tempering my expectation for him to become the #1. OTOH, he proved me wrong big time based on his Sat outing so maybe if anyone can do it, it may be him
  19. You bring up a good point about the position defensively. That further complicates the whether to extend, how long, extend both question... I am just telling myself to enjoy this team this and next year. I don't think we necessarily will be bad after that (or at least I am hoping) but it will be a different team.
  20. I for one am not bothered by bandwagon fans. To me the depth of the joy (and the accompanying agony) is no way comparable. Being a Jays (and Leafs fan I might add) throughout my whole childhood and adult life, the joy I am going to feel when they finally win, whether it'd be this year or later cannot be compared to a bandwagon fan. Living in LA where so much is about image and being seen at the right place with the right people, celebrating a team victory is a lot of times just an excuse to have a party. For a long-suffering fan (I don't want to use the word "true" as IMO it's too judgmental), I think I will celebrate more with tears than anything I remember reading one article when the Red Sox finally broke the curse in '04, there was a man who along with his sons took a pennant and placed it at his Dad's grave. His words were "We finally did it Dad". Even though I hate the Sox, to me that is the epitome of a long-suffering fan. BTW this is what I've told my kids to do in case the Jays and Leafs don't win in my lifetime
  21. It's an interesting discussion whether we want a strong rotation with strong 2nd tier guys throughout the rotation or actually an ace. One thought is that if you are contending, you want/need an ace. It's a big mystery to me on what's going to happen after '16 when Jose/Eddy are FAs. There are so many questions - Will Jose and Eddy both still be elite? Can Jays afford both? If they only extend Jose, will there be a chemistry problem as it seems that Eddy and Jose are extremely close. I know we'll still have JD, Tulo and Martin but to me, these 2 guys, hitting back to back are something special... To me, I think we have one more year to go for it all which seems to mean it'd be ideal to have a true ace. After that, I don't really know. Maybe instead of back loading the contract, we front load it so that we have to make a trade, it'll be more palatable for other teams? I really don't know
  22. IMO that is a distinct possibility. In reading the Rox pre/early season "concerns" about Tulo, there were some discussion about whether he'd be open to switching positions. Tulo's response was something like I'd rater retire than switch. The quote I remembered was "This is the way I'm wired". The only difference that someone had already mentioned is that speed is not a big factor in Tulo's game. Also Tulo has the power/slugging component in his game although we haven't seen much of it in a Jays uniform. Looking at how Jose and Eddy can still get around on 98/99 mph fastballs says that power doesn't necessarily decline with age although I wonder how much of that is just it's just because it is Jose and Eddy
  23. We have Hutch and the Yanks has their equivalent in Sabathia. With Eovaldi out of the reg season, we have our chance though I like their starting 4 more than ours...
