  1. Odor gets a 6 year extension for $49.5 million with Texas
  2. I read that as Darwin Barney at first because I looked too quickly and was like "God no, what the hell is wrong with them taking Goins" Then I re-read it and realized it wasn't Barney. Obviously I was wrong, Shatkins are not idiots
  3. Well this can never happen again now
  4. I don't know's on third
  5. I knew a Steve phillips was the Mets Gm, I just assumed it was a common name and it was a different Steve phillips at tsn
  6. True, brainfart. Completely forgot about him. All the discussion has been about LF (Upton/Carrera/Pompey) and 1B (Pearce/Smoak) for weeks that I didn't even think of our reliable utility man
  7. Can Steve Pearce play 3rd and 1st at the same time so we don't have to trot out Smoak lol. Be like our steroided former first baseman
  8. I read that as a "We shouldn't have signed him, but we will talk him up to boost his value and to keep him happy. If he's happy maybe he'll overperform to start the season and we can trade him"
  9. Jays agree to minor league deal with catcher Rafael Lopez per the Score app
  10. Trump: Sell your team to my son-in-law's brother and I will hook you up
  11. Jeffrey Loria emerges as candidate to be US Ambassador to France lol via THe Score
  12. Per a Score notification. Let's never forget his first stint with the Jays. Acquired and then traded less than a day later and got us Colby Rasmus
  13. Arbitrators see stromans hair, immediately award decision in favour of jays.
  14. Well neither is on the 40-man, so I guess technically they are equal now. Someone has to be DFA'd for either to make the team now.
  15. If he's ever on the roster and we get ino a 18 inning game, we'll make him pitch like Goins. Or if we're winning big by 10+ runs, shift him after every out - all 10 positions in one game.
  16. So I guess we will have another DFA in a couple of days for Joe Smith's official signing? Or is he already officially signed?
  17. Although I think any change is not necessary, would something like a designated fielder rule in extra innings make more sense? (ie, after inning 10 or so, team designates 3 players who become designated fielders and the order becomes a 6 man rotation). For example, for us, we could become a lineup of Travis-Bautista-Donaldson-Morales-Tulo-Martin with Upton,Pillar, Smoak as designated fielders. Gets rid of the worst hitters and promotes offense by having the best hitters play more. I'm not really a fan of that either, but I'd prefer it over an automatic runner on 2nd. Trying to find a parallel between the NHL 4on4 now 3on3 overtime for baseball.
  18. well they wouldn't need the four pitch walk, just let him go straight to 1st with manfred's other proposal. But the sac fly is still in effect for the next batter after the walk. Although in reality, I don't know if that strategy would be popular in the top half, knowing the bottom half will do the same thing. Top half probably plays for multiple runs, bottom half definitely goes for the sac/sac play if it's tied in their half.
  19. And here we are in the top of the 40th inning. We have set the mlb record for most sacrifices in a game with 120
  20. Top 10 - Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, Ground Out 1 Run Lead Bot 10 - Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, Pop Out Tie Game Top 11 - Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, Ground Out 1 Run Lead Bot 11 - Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, SrikeOut Tie Game Top 12 - Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, FlyOut 1 Run Lead Bot 12 - Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, GroundOut Tie Game Top 13 - Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, StrikeOut 1 Run Lead Bot 13 - Bautista says screw bunting and Stikes out, Sac Fly runner to third, Fly Out Game Over
  21. I think not signing him to a minors deal is a mistake for Atlanta. If Flowers can do the job and you don't need Thole, that's Option #1. But look at us, when we brought in Dickey; we signed/acquired 3! catchers - Thole, Nickeas, Blanco. Even last year when Martin did the job, we decided it wasn't the best for the team and brought Thole in September + this season. It's one thing to have a black hole taking up a roster spot for under a million, but if Flowers or whoever they get as a back up can't do it, then basically Dickey's $8 million becomes a waste - the extra benefit you get from a non-Thole hitter is lost due to the plethora of passed balls. Hopefully, Flowers does a good job.
  22. I feel if those park adjusted splash charts for Morales do come to fruition then I feel like Morales can give us 80% of an Edwin, and hopefully an AngryBaustista can make up the rest of that 20%. Then Pearce is already better than Smoak. And if we can get decent 3rd outfielder stats, I feel our bats can actually be better than last year slightly.
  23. Yes, Smoak would be redundant for the Mets, but Bruce is already redundant for the Mets too. Logic would be take the cheaper useless piece, I guess. Smoak at 4+4 may be easier to swallow on their payroll than Bruce at 13+0. It's +9 savings this year and -4 next year, but even if they have to hold Smoaky all year, they may be able to sneak him into a deal next offseason as a salary offload since $4 million is a bit easier to sneak into a deal. It's hard for a team to absorb $13, but $4 is doable.
  24. FO wants to give no more than QO and Bautista wants 1 year for more than QO. Maybe they can compromise and do 1 yr/ QO + bonuses. And bonuses can go up to $20 depending on metrics used. Gives Baustista the deal he wants since if he is as good as he believes, he should get the $20 and if Bautista is as good as the FO believes he gets QO, but if he's better than they believe he gets $20.
