  1. I am happy with Gibby's use of both Smoak and Colabello at this stage. IMO Smoak is more likely to hit a homer, Colabello is better at the plate in a crucial at bat (esp. with the bases loaded) and Smoak has better hands at 1B but probably slightly less range than Colabello. If it ain't broken then don't fix it.
  2. Tampa Bay split squad games in the regular season
  3. I wouldn't have called up Muni if it meant DannyV DFA'd. He is much more versatile and while only serviceable as a 2b. Muni for Bello no problem at all he has options and would still be a piece to call on if injuries bite and a September call up at worst, but I don't make the move AT THIS STAGE if it's for Valencia which means we will lose him from the organisation.
  4. With Revere and Pillar in left and centre, where exactly does Pompey fit going forward?
  5. Got tickets for Monday already and poised to buy for Sunday as well if it's confirmed as his start day.
  6. If we don't do anything else we MUST put in a dirt infield for the start of next season, if nothing more it helps to protect your investment. We cannot push up the timeline for the grass field but in comparison the dirt infield doesn't need the research and can be speedily done in one offseason.
  7. Buck and Tabby into full commentator curse tonight
  8. That xbh, would it be the double against Texas or the HR against the Rays? If you're going to quote stats at least get them right please, I wouldn't want my accountant to be as accurate as you
  9. I was not trying to undermine Smoak as I do like him and he would start at 1B in my best lineup. But I understand that sometimes you go with your hottest hitters, so CC over JS is fine IMO for now, but it won't be when CC cools off.
  10. If it's the process then ask AA to give Gibbons more natural outfielders to select from then.
  11. I quite like Smoak, and he should be used more but he didn't look very effective when he started 3 of 4 the other week going 1 for 13 with 6 s/o's. I certainly understand the use of Colabello while he's hitting, and hope that he responds like he did last Tuesday with the game winning home run after frenchsoup ridiculed his use before that game.
  12. Not being long removed from the UK Zaun just made me laugh by commenting who were the best shaggers.
  13. 4 strikeouts through 2 scoreless so far for Hoffman.
  14. Just make sure you don't move into my seat Seriously though, I hope you have a great time and we can sweep the Mets and Orioles while you are visiting. I did a similar visit in 2006 from the UK and moved here last year. If you have poor seats remember that Robbie's '12' bar on the 200 level has no reservations and is first come first served and you can stay in there all game, so if you get in early enough this can be an option too.
  15. It's $16 but there is a coupon for $1 off on the website. We only visited the areas I listed but they do different stuff on different days. http://www.rogerscentre.com/about/tours.jsp
  16. I did a tour recently at the end of March, at the box office they had a schedule for the day's tour, so I guess it changes dependant on what will be available to view. They were still laying the new turf at the time we did the 100 + 200 levels, a couple of suites, the media centre (I still call it the press box), the away clubhouse, home dugout, we even went onto the field though they did say it was the first time this guide had been allowed to do that. http://imageshack.com/a/img661/1750/Q5JUXt.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img908/338/vi35kN.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img538/7351/Gfc9lP.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img903/3598/rHbYj2.jpg
  17. I really enjoy watching him make some great defensive plays, he reminds me of JohnnyMac. With his fielding skills if he had an average bat he would be an everyday player but he hasn't that's why he's only playing due to Travis' (or Reyes before him) injury.
  18. Boxcar's recent posts suggest differently, finding the ending of Goins 'hot streak' to be hilarious for example. As a relative newbie to the sport myself but not the field of statistics. I find it bizarre why any fan finds it difficult to cheer for their own club's players. They are our players they may be poor but surely we should want them to succeed, if they wear our logo I can't understand why any fan would find any solace in their failings never mind hilarity.
  19. Again, you seem to find it hilarious that Goins 'hot streak' didn't continue so some posters could be proved wrong. smh Re. this thread I suggest you take a look back after his poorer starts, and i'm sure you will find plenty of 'I told you so' posts from the other side of the fence. Didn't tercet once post before the first inning was through. Surely all fans want their teams to succeed over points scoring on an internet forum.
  20. This I just do not get Why is it so difficult to cheer for YOUR team's players...... because you disagree with some people on an internet forum What type of person/fan does it make you... Someone who wants to be proved correct on an internet forum more than you want your team and its players being successful? To quote 'What the F**k is wrong with YOU!'
  21. Reyes is in decline due to age without a doubt he is getting older and declining with a hefty contract. But this is hardly unique in the game of Baseball nearly all teams have overpaid depreciating assets - We'll be in the same position in a few years with Martin. We don't have a good enough replacement at SS so we should continue to roll him out everyday. As for Haworth, I yearn for the day that sports commentators did just that, comment on the action, paint a picture with your words, describe the game. They are not called sports opinionators.
  22. It was you that stated to stop being results orientated and it was a team game, I'd sooner have the team with most wins in the league, than the best statistical pitcher in the league. It's a results sport, where wins determine success not an individual's statistics. As a Blue Jay fan I want Sanchez to be successful as it will help us to be successful, as I do with all our players. I can't understand the level some posters on here seem to be wanting him to fail to be proved right. I totally understand liking and disliking players on your team, and preferring some over others but wishing for failure for any player on your team is just baffling to me.
  23. Of course he didn't pitch well but if it's the bottom of the ninth and his team were winning then his TEAM won which is the aim of the game.
  24. Really .... I thought they give out trophies for the best results. Sports are all about getting results, as a fan of a sports team do you want the team to win or for their players to be the top of their statistical field. Its a sport where playoff teams are determined by wins and losses not era, fip, xfip. Coming onto this thread quite late and as a newbie to this sport, it just seems to me that the 'advanced stats guys' want Sanchez results to be bad because the advanced stats say he is.
