  1. Improvement is improvement, he won't stay THIS bad.
  2. He's not going to keep a negative wrc+ the rest of the season, that's just stupid.
  3. Sure it can, has his K rate been going up all season and the 11k games happen recently? Inconsistent mechanics is something many pitchers struggle with, if a guy falls into a groove and really nails his mechanics and dominates people then loses it for a while again would bring more hope to me about a pitcher improving then a guy who has a very steady k rate game to game. The more context you can give to numbers the more meaningful they become.
  4. I mean maybe? Padres could maybe move on from Derek Norris, but, he's heading towards his second arbitration and already making 3M(and is a former All Star so you'd be paying for bounce back most likely) Rockies could maybe move Nick Hundley, but, he's a worse pitch framer then Thole this season. Jeff Mathis could come back from Miami, might be the best of the best available. Dinner Plate? Ugh no. AJ Piersynkski? Ugh no. I really don't see a lot of names being out there that make sense as a back up catcher. And Thole was on the playoff roster last season, so it's already happened, you don't need to imagine it.
  5. Because even Zeke has done better?
  6. And get who? Atkins mentioned AJ Jimenez being given a shot, they also have Lavarnway, Kratz and McGuire kicking around. All of whom are terrible with the bat like most back up catchers and good with the glove. Can't see them moving assets to acquire a C at this point.
  7. Thankfully next season is still months(months!) away. There's no guarantee the three of them are gone, not that Bautista has done anything to help the Jays win this season, or Saunders since the ASG. If those 3 are major contributor's that must give the Jays six major contributors offensively, holy crap that's kind awesome! They may also sign Free Agents if there are no options found internally. Or trade with Billy Beane again.
  8. I think writing the teams offense as simply lucky is an incredible disservice to the pro talent evaluators and instructors who have been around the team the last several seasons.
  9. Hinske only played 2 games in the minors for the Jays, wasn't really developed here. Arguments could be made for Jayson Werth and Casey Blake being developed here. Same with Michael Young.
  10. He had a 902 OPS in 2007, but, yes, his career was short. Talent doesn't improve because you survive longer in the game, I forget what drove him out of the game, but, I seem to recall injuries playing a part.
  11. It's sort of interesting, but, to exclude good position players and just focus on 'premium hitters' is silly imo. As is ignoring the development of pitchers as a reason why we haven't seen a good position player come along for a little while now.
  12. They were worried he might turn things around and win them a game or two.
  13. One could argue Jayson Werth was developed by the Jays, he tried and failed at AA twice(with the O's) before getting dumped to the Jays(for John Bale who was not impressive) where he improved his OPS by 170 points in AA after a quick stopover in Dunedin. Josh Phelps could hit pretty well. Lifetime .815 OPS Reed Johnson could hit lefties, career .817 OPS
  14. Good God how do you draw that conclusion?
  15. Hi there, since your Toronto Blue Jays have decided to run with a 6 man rotation and a 7 man bullpen there is no room for Ryan Goins. He is hereby banished to Buffalo until they stop that practice, an IF hits the DL or rosters expand.
  16. Smoak has seen bench time since he signed his contract.
  17. *shrugs* You can find exceptions to every single situation on the planet.
  18. IIRC in races where Armstrong finished Top 3, 27 of the 30 have been found guilty of doping lol. I think the problem I have with Alex is he's been such a superstar for so long and from such an early age that he doesn't even act human. I'm sure anybodys personality would be guarded and f***ed up if they went through the same thing.
  19. I have no idea when he began, I also don't think it's as big a deal to me as others. I dislike him more for his attitude then juicing. Do you really think he was doing it from high school? Wouldn't it of had to begin before that? The guy went 1st overall and debuted the same season as an 18 year old.
  20. I don't think slumps are purely a physical thing. Even if true, does that mean A-Rod started juicing when he was 20? Where is his huge spike in production?
  21. This should be obvious to anybody who has spent more then 15 minutes on the internet. I registered here a while ago, but, couldn't get into the flow of the place so just never posted.
