  1. Donaldson must feel like he's playing with a bunch of has-beens and misfits
  2. No, actually the burden of proof is on you. I already provided sufficient evidence. You're the one who made the original point and you have provided nothing.
  3. Must have just changed! I checked it earlier and it was Gonza.
  4. It's obvious. And I'm saying the soft% stat itself is not related to BABIP, as I already said soft% is comprised of hits and non-hits (BABIP measures hits on balls in play, in case you didn't know)... whether a player gets a hit on a ball in play or not does not affect soft%, how many more ways can I explain this... lol x infinity.
  5. He seemed so good, when he was going good, I hope he can be good again. He could be really good!
  6. I heard he's "not 100%" - Gibbons. But perhaps this is just mindgames, hoping the Nats will hear this and try to run on him? Probably not.
  7. I'd love to see you say that to his face! (And see what happens as a result)
  8. That wasn't the point at all. The point was not that they are having good years but that the list is obviously comprised of good pitchers (I purposely did not provide any other data other than pitcher name and soft%). Did you know one of the first signs of intelligence in humans (the genus of hominids) was the ability to distinguish patterns? I'm really sorry though, as it seems this particular genetic trait has skipped your lineage all together. No, I said soft% is not related to BABIP because it has nothing to do with whether the ball is in play or not. Saying a pitcher can't control quality of contact is like saying a pitcher can't control his SwStr%, it's the same thing... whether you miss a bat totally or by a little, it's the same deal.
  9. It's not my fault you can't analyse a basic table of data and see there's an obvious correlation
  10. Why on earth would I waste my time doing this? Also I would never use ERA if I did.
  11. Is Pompey's confidence shot for good? I know he had a triple last night but otherwise he's had 2 XBH in nearly 90 AB... pretty atrocious. That's like Josh Thole territory, worse.
  12. What are you even talking about? I never mentioned BABIP, plus soft% has no relationship to BABIP as it relates to both hits and non-hits. That's funny I thought I already did when I showed that the best pitchers in the game are inducing weak contact? I guess you need a pretty chart with colors in it to help you understand.
  13. Zimmerman, Scherzer, Gonzalez. There's a strong chance we don't win a game. Jays fair 'especially' bad vs good pitching. Let's just hope they put Casey Janssen in a couple games... he's a shadow of his former self and his top velocity down nearly 5mph. He's throwing taters out there, will located taters probably, but taters nevertheless.
  14. So now we're back to the 1990's and using the "eye test".
  15. I would agree with this if Colabello hadn't cost us two games with his D (not sure if and how many games he won with his bat). Don't mind Carrera at all, can't believe people were totally blaming him for losing a ball in the sun... could happen to anyone.
  16. Scratch this. Won't even be playing tonight based on weather reports. Surprised it wasn't cancelled already.
  17. I have the Jays with the second worst win% of any team tonight. 0.36% chance.
  18. Carrera is actually not that bad. 103 wRC+ which doesn't include his baserunning and the dude has some jets. He hasn't had much success in the majors but he may still have something to show.
  19. You mean the guy with 18 walks in 27 innings in AAA? You're hired!
  20. Hope you're all ready for another Reyes hate-on!!
  21. You also forgot number of people in attendence at the stadium. As we know with quantum mechanics, the observer or observers in this case may have what is called an observers effect on the behavior of subatomic particles, thus effecting the energy in play of the atoms in motion.
  22. There we go. By the way, on the topic of CS% being useless... I'm surprised you didn't even mention the opposing runners in your bullet list. Some divisions/leagues might have faster/more effective runners, plus the distribution of those running against could be better or worse, depending. Also, was the stadium open or close? How about air density? Temperature? How many games were played at Coors field? Did the catcher get laid the night before? Did he have a healthy breakfast that day? What else am I missing?
  23. Never asked for anything like that. How about a normal discussion about catchers and catcher arms? Maybe some discussion about Martin's great arm? Guess that's too much to ask.
  24. You went way out of your way to make up a whole bunch of points about CS% not being valid (relatively untrue) just to spite my thread. I call that being a prick.
