  1. And they'd play him back at third? They signed LaRoach for 3 years and already have Abreu at 1st. Fail.
  2. I fully expect him to be revitalized by this trade. I think he was hating life in general playing for the Rockies.
  3. Please now find a way to deal EE for a pitcher, bring up Pompey to play LF and call it a day AA.
  4. I'm not sure they do that for Velasquez alone. Good god
  5. What indications has AA give. You that he'll mortgage the future to 'save his ass?' Personally, I don't see it. Stupid trades now look bad for future resumes (not that he should be fired imo)
  6. You'd have to be a pretty selfish player to make your first 3 points a priority over a shot at winning the World Series. I also doubt many people would decline a trade because they don't want to play in/for Americans...Finally, why would he be on the move again after 2 months? Would the team that traded for him not be able to pickup his option? I'd still think E5 (and/or Jose, although I doubt he's been offered) would jump that the opportunity to join a team like the Cards. If anything for E5, he'd likely rather play in the AL so he can DH.
  7. I've asked this like 7 times. Why would Jose or E5 block deals to contenders? Who on earth wouldn't want to escape the abyss of the Toronto Blue Jays and their .500 teams?
  8. I'd have to render a guess there's a 0.001% chance of that happening.
  9. I agree with this. Cashner is a major injury risk, but it seems the price would be significantly less than Ross (albeit he has 1 less year of control too IIRC). He might be the guy I go after.
  10. So it's your fault they are prompting a game tonight that doesn't exist?
  11. How long did it take you guys to develop this awesome .gif library? I love it.
  12. Did it say what's wrong with Starling?
  13. I do - it looked like someone shot his dog.
  14. I think the Pompey decision was made to avoid long term damage to his psyche. He looked like he was going to cry after every at bat there just before being sent down. The issue was - after the Saunders injury, they were left extremely shallow in the OF. Bello got red hot, and they ran him out in LF to keep the hot bat in the lineup (which was compounded when Jose had to DH for that month or whatever).
  15. Christ - all I'm saying is good GM's don't make moves solely to 'save their job'. I don't think you'll see AA gut the farm system 'because if he doesn't win this year, he'll lose his job'. That's all I'm saying. I also think teams chasing a 1 game playoff, trading for top rentals is a bad idea because it's always an overpay.
  16. The point remains that good GM's done make stupid trades to try and save their jobs because it hurts their resume for future job opportunities.
  17. Good GM's don't give a s*** about what the fan base thinks. Not all fans are despaired.
  18. Agreed. People say he should be a 4/5....not many teams have 3 WAR 4th/5th starters.
  19. This is exactly it. This is the A's adding Lester last year. They think they are the best and they are 'going for it'. I'd support AA if he made this move while in the Royals position. I wouldn't support him if he made it in our current position.
  20. Every local media pump the local owners. Never noticed that? what do you expect?
  21. Like you think he'd start on another team? yur dum
  22. The decisions AA makes now set up his resume for his next GM job. If I'm looking to hire a GM and I see at this last job he was irresponsible, selling top prospects to make a hail mary attempt at the playoffs - I don't want that guy anywhere near my team. Luckily - I actually don't think AA will make moves just to 'save his job'. Bad GM's do that.
  23. What does ftfy mean? Cleaning out the farm is dealing Norris or Hoffman, Pompey or Alford and Castro
  24. The thought of facing the gauntlet of Oattes, Magnus and Ivany from the Nepean Brewers must have scared Aumont away from the NCBL.
