  1. Look at the AAA walk rates over the past 2 years. Ever pitcher who moves up to AAA immediately walks 7+ per inning. It's our coaching strategy. They've clearly just instructed all pitchers to stop throwing strikes. You can't get hit hard if you don't throw strikes! It's 4D chess guys. You don't have to look very far to see we have a bullpen full of nasty, yet volatile arms. Remember when everyone complained we didn't have swing and miss bullpen arms and high K rates? The front office actually listened to you! That's no longer an issue, but it comes with it's own pitfalls (which you ought to have known). There are always going to be ups and downs throughout a season. We're better to have this "down" swing right now and not in October.
  2. Too much swing and miss probably?
  3. Jays are 455-386 (.541) since 2020 - the best stretch we've had in 30 years and even the slightly more intelligent Jays fans can't go a month or 2 without suggesting the FO and Manager are complete garbage that should be fired immediately. Every single move and decision is criticized like fans have never followed a baseball team in their lives - with fans acting like they are 1000% smarter than everyone in the organization. This is a prime example of how stupid our society is and why we have so many issues within it.
  4. And who'd you want at the deadline? Hensley? Jax? Doval?
  5. Can you name one ML manager who you've seen immediately start warming up a bullpen arm every time he brings his closer into the game?
  6. Absolutely! If we lose another game this season, Atkins and Schneider should be fired immediately. This is unacceptable.
  7. Apparently not. Several have proven they 100% fault Atkins.
  8. So much mindless b*tching. Vent boys vent.
  9. Volatile bullpens are so much fun. Everyone used to it by now? Nope? Right on.
  10. Gate 14 Podcast (@gate14podcast) • Instagram reel WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 23K likes, 156 comments - gate14podcast on July 31, 2025: "Eric Lauer talks about the incredible 5th Inning smoke break in... Lauer talking about the 5th inning smoke break in the KBO. That's awesome.
  11. There are other ways teams score in the playoffs... Max has been incredible lately - I certainly want him on the rubber ahead of Lauer, Bassitt, Berrios.
  12. Looks like Charlie Condon has started to figure things out (140 wRC+ on the season). It's nice to see some things go right for the Rockies...
  13. I think it's quite close myself. The next 32 games will determine a lot. Big Dumper playing catcher is going to be a factor for lots of voters. Seattle has been pooh since the deadline though - if they miss the playoffs, that gives an edge to Judge.
  14. Man - I hope not. I'm a progressive guy, but I don't want to lose the history of the AL and NL. I get that logistically, some of it may make sense and balanced schedules and interleague play have changed things - but I think the history of baseball is sacred - more so than the other major sporting leagues, so talk like this makes me uncomfortable.
  15. It's funny, you know just how good he is based on the stats, but I was still blown away with how sharp and nasty he was the other night. I am a huge baseball fan, I love following the game and it's history, but based on the current status of my life (super busy) I simply don't watch a lot of baseball if it isn't the Jays. That change up is reminiscent of Zack Grienke's. It seems to defy physics to have their fastball at 92 and their changeup at 89 with that much movement/drop. I love it. What an absolute pleasure it is to watch both Scherzer and Bieber in Blue Jay uniforms. Some type of extension for Bieber would be awesome.
  16. Agreed.
  17. What's an extension for Varsho look like?
  18. Here we got - time to tee off on this bullpen...
  19. I like it personally. I like that it creates scoring opportunities. It does it's job quite well in the regular season.
  20. I don't quite get why "less vert" is more drop (ie Skenes splinker with 0 vert). 0 vert "sounds" like it has no drop.
  21. Is there a simple "dummies guide to pitch shapes" someone could provide me? We say his change went from 6 horizontal/16 vertical to 2 horizontal/12 vertical and that's "better"? I always thought it was like there's an axis and that for horizontal, one side of the axis is positive and the other is negative and the #'s represent the # of inches (?) that it moves? Am I way off base? I'd love to learn more about this as it's an area I'm clueless in [insert joke here].
  22. And sliderguy35 locks up the ROY for this forum - it's over folks! I got a little chub reading that post. Interesting that his change up is only 3 MPH +/- slower than the fastball. Reminds me of Zack Greinke...
