  1. I think they are staying with Dickey cuz they already slighted him starting Estrada ahead of him and it would be unthinkable to just skip him altogether after that. Throw in that Price was off last start and the downside of messing with his rest rotation, they probably want to bring things back to normal and start him in game 5 should it get there and not go from resting him for 14 days to pitching him on short rest.
  2. Remember a few months ago when we were gonna win it all with a rotation of Hutch Dickey Buehrle Norris Santana LOL
  3. Man, that will be a pretty ugly series and entertaining at the same time.
  4. Isn't this the ideal scenario though? Buehrle starts, if he is clearly struggling, bring in Stroman from the pen and let him get some work in. Buehrle and Hutch are ideal candidates.
  5. There is no reason to think that Stroman is miles better.
  6. A lot of people are maybe just a little carried away with our pitching staff (outside of Price). We have been and are going to win ballgames because of our hitting guys. Buehrle is going to have his bad days esp. against the Redsox. Don't know why Gibby switched him into Estrada's start, but like we even saw from Estrada vs. Baltimore these guys are going to have tough days. What you should be more concerned with is Tulo and Martin at this moment. The team has been solely carried by JD and to slightly lesser extent EE and JB, they are going to need help esp. in the playoffs should they make it. Cannot expect anything from Stroman coming back from injury. His ERA last yr was 3.65, about in line with Buehrle, maybe he'll be an upgrade over Hutch for away games but that's about it.
  7. EDIT: I just took a look at his xFIP for the first time today, darn was pretty high on him.
  8. Wow looking back at that trade, wonder if AA saw Estrada being this solid back then. Really trading Happ and Lind makes so much more sense if this is what he was expecting from Estrada. I thought Marco was just a mediocre bullpen piece at the time.
  9. SO did they just open the roof to f*** with Dickey?
  10. Love that he's throwing more fastballs.
  11. Why do you care so much about the money?
  12. Wonder how they expect to fill seats for such an early game...
  13. This is gonna be a fun game to watch, finally catch a game cuz of the early start time.
  14. Also Estrada 2014>Dickey 2015 Better walk rate and strikeout rate/9 The only argument you could bring up is the HR rate which was high for him last year, his career is about even with Dickey.
  15. LMAO Dickey has been pitching really well after the all-star break, but no way he bumps Estrada. In Estrada we have a guy that is solid enough to keep us in till the offence kicks in which is the strength of the team. When Dickey is ON, he gives up 3 runs. When Dickey is off, its 5-0 in the first inning and he gets pulled with the bases loaded. True, but it's not like Stroman is taking Estrada's spot. It's between Estrada and Dickey if Stroman comes back. You could say the same about Dickey's last two years, haven't been spectacular and he gives up his share of homeruns as well. Not to mention 2 games is a small sample size.
  16. He's only been good this season, his career stats in everything suck. Can't look at career stats.
  17. Surprised Buck didn't blast off
  18. Meh, it's a reflex. Now Martin going all spiderman into the dugout...the time he did it in NY was frekin scary too.
  19. Well that's one way to cut off Buehrle's run support.
  20. "Why have you forsaken us" lol
  21. Stroman is probably the Ace of the rotation going forward and at the same time the only pitcher we can count on being in the rotation next year. Being extra cautious with him is the way to go...I'm actually kinda surprised they didn't just shut him down.
  22. So that he can come in after 4ish innings on days Stroman pitches. It's the only way to work Stroman into a SP posn this year really. Stroman goes 4 innings, Estrada closes it out. Hutch to the pen is pretty useless really considering the guys we have there. I would rather Stroman just start up here when he is close than go to AAA for an extended period of time to get stretched out etc. so he can have time to get his game ready for the playoffs. May just be better to use Stroman out of the pen this year for 3 inning stints. Would be handy on days Hutch is struggling, plus it would be very easy to monitor/yank him/control his innings this way. Looks like the starting 4 will be Price Dickey Estrada Buehrle So having a guy that can go 3 innings out of the pen would be huge on Dickey, Estrada, Buehrle days.
  23. Yeah I like that, have Stroman start Estrada's games, if things go sour Estrada out of the pen. When he looks good enough, Hutch to the pen?
  24. Tigers never had an offence like this tho
