  1. I suppose you can also argue that the Jays have upgraded their pitching by bringing in Martin, Saunders and Donaldson to shore up the defense.
  2. 2B and pitching (it doesn't matter rotation or pen) in that order.
  3. If your going to pay a lefty pitcher that much money for that much term, why not just sign Lester who is proven in the AL East and keep your prospects?
  4. We are currently at $125.7 million with the arb values on mlbtr and including Romero.
  5. I had the same thought lol Valencia and Goins for the bench would be fine for me because if we do our job and bring in another hitting outfielder Goins would be 4th in line to pinch hit anyways and would merely be a defensive replacement.
  6. Would you guys be open to bringing back Mayberry now as a part time platoon player with Saunders? With Saunders flexibility being able to play RF and with the DH spot planned as a "day off" spot, would it not make sense to have 2 OF, 2 INF and a backup catcher on the bench in which case Mayberry (power) and Pillar (speed and defense) would make sense for those 2 spots?
  7. Why would he go there where he will have a limited role and why would a team on a budget continue to load up on relievers?
  8. He owns a good career .366 OBP and he can be moved to LF to improve his defense? (not sure where hes weak defensively) and with a $9 million salary, is it outside the realm to possibly offer him arb next year and gain a comp pick?
  9. Arbitration projected value of $9 million.
  10. Would anyone be interested in Volquez for the bullpen? Good peripherals and velocity and would probably see an increase there which would help his stuff.
  11. All this fuss being made about the being part of a winner statement that the statement he made about being excited to join a team with leaders who take charge goes under the radar. That is the one everyone should be focused on (even if you don't believe in that stuff)
  12. Yea I did that too, For some reason I had this expectation in my head that he was a good defensive 2B who was less useless offensively than Goins.
  13. It makes so much sense that we won't do it.
  14. Repetition is repetition regardless of where it is. The question is will they get enough innings in the pen vs. what they could get in the minors.
  15. Doesn't he also have a plus change-up? Could be a nasty combo out of the pen with 100mph heat.
  16. Estrada? lol
  17. Hmmm
  18. Not to mention that Jose is a year removed from 2 wrist injuries. Wouldn't it make sense to hedge your bets by spreading the injury risk out among 3 players instead of relying on 1 to stay healthy as a 34 year old?
  19. According to Steamer 2015 projections, you acquire 7.4 WAR for 5.4 from Bautista.
  20. Would anyone be willing to entertain going after both Ackley and Saunders at the cost of…. Jose? Lets say you get Ackley and Saunders. You still need more value back to justify dealing Jose, so what if you add another piece like Iwakuma? You get back a front of the rotation starter on a 1 year deal while filling two needs while being able to still re-sign Melky for LF.
  21. I really hope we stand firm on the 3 years now that his market keeps dwindling.
  22. I don't take him at all. If you have to take on that entire salary you are handcuffed for the future and if LA eats a big portion, it will cost more than he is going to be worth in prospects.
