    My guess is Shapiro countered Bautista's asking price by saying "this won't fit into the budget, but this is what we can offer you". That's probably what set Bautista off.

    I think AA acquired these $20AAV players like Martin, Donaldson and Tulo with the expectation that he wouldn't be able to sign both Edwin and Jose. AA was planning ahead for this. AA wanted ot ensure he'd still have a solid middle of the order.

    Yes, that's what I said. And its not just 25lbs, its 25lbs of MUSCLE. If I wanted, I could put on 25lbs in 4 months eating McDonalds, Doritos and Milkshakes. But he said muscle.
